Body confidence. It’s something I have in bucket loads, but trust me it wasn’t always that way. Oh sure people would say I’ve always ‘been confident’ but being ‘body confident’, well that took time.
These days I’m passionate about helping women get in touch with their inner goddess (we all have one) and achieving positive body confidence.
Body confidence to me is partly about letting go.
Letting go of all the negative internal dialogue and poor habits from the past. Let them go and then replace them with a positive internal dialogue bringing you ‘achievable positive daily change’ to create a life you love from the inside out.
It doesn’t happen overnight, but it will happen. Hey, isn’t that a shampoo ad? 🙂
We are all on our own journey, some of us are winning at having fabulous body confidence, some of us are creating change and some are just plain stuck. We are all at different stages, and that’s ok.
Recently I posted a pic of myself in a bikini and the ladies on the internet cheered. Kinda weird because I didn’t bring about world peace, but I get it. My photograph gave women everywhere of all ages, sizes and stages of life permission.
Permission to just bloody be themselves, even on the beach.
Then I had an idea! I grabbed three Adelaide bloggers and pitched a swimsuit shoot idea at them. We are all at different stages of life and different stages of our body confident journey so I figured the diversity would be relatable to more of you.
Three cheers for Caitlin from ‘Twist of Cait’, Beth from A’lmost Posh’ and Jazz from ‘Just Wingin It’ because all three were all in!
The lead up to the shoot was pretty cruisey for me, after all I’ve got my kit off a few times and I’m in a pretty sweet place with my own body confidence. However the lead up for the others in the girl squad was, well you need to head to their blogs to read their journey. (links at end of post)
Meanwhile check out these bloody brilliant shots. Yes we hired a photographer. No the images aren’t filtered or photoshopped.
Henley beach, you take my breath away very single time…
THIS! This is my favourite shot of the day. Four chicks owning it. #girlsquad
And this is what we say to any woman judging another…kiss my sweet ass! BOOM!
Meanwhile if you aren’t so body confident (yet) or just wanna cover your arse then check out this cute coverup tee. Available in three designs with longer length and quality cotton stub available now HERE.
What is it with woman judging other women? If you’re the judgey type, STOP! If you are on the internets make the effort to encourage other women and while you are at it when you post a pic use the hashtags #yourbodyconfidence and #cossieconfidence so we can all cheer you too.
Meanwhile if you need more confidence on the beach this summer here’s a few tips…
+Get a spray tan or try an ‘at home’ job.
+spoil yourself with a pedicure, shellac will last months .
+if lippy makes you feel better then wear it, even on the beach.
+invest in a quality cossie with power mesh panels and adjustable straps
+wear a rashie for sun protection and modesty.
+a sarong doubles as a skirt, dress or wrap .
+buy yourself special beach towel and beach bag.
+Try colour or print (or both) in your cossie.
+give less fucks! People aren’t staring so live your life now!
How’s your body confidence? Is it better than how it was 6 months ago? How do you think you will be in 6 months time?
Please take a few minutes to check out the other girls blog posts, Ta.

Great tips Jen 🙂 Hopefully we’ll have some proper summer soon and get to the beach more often x
If you need me I’ll be on the beach 🙂
I love your posts. I’m 52, size 18 and am finally learning to accept this changing body I’m in. Your outfits / blogs have given me so many ideas on what suits my body shape and how to wear them, quite often I’m deadset cloning you and feel confident in what I’m wearing. I just want to say thanks & keep going. You’ve reallly helped me enjoy wearing clothes that give me cofidence & I know they look good as I get some great compliments. Love your work x
Kim this is music to my body loving ears, thankyou. I love that you’re being inspired in the style department but really , really love that you areaccepting your body. Keep going xx
I’m with Kim, another inspired copycat of yours .
I’m a firm believer that a spray tan and some lippy will improve your mood 100%! Great tips and thank you for being so inspiring!
Lippy fixes everything right Caitlyn 🙂
Thanks for saying YES and joining in for the shoot, your blue cossie loves you x
Last year I did not go to the beach once, not once! And so far this year I haven’t either. I love the beach, but my body confidence is below zero and realise it is holding me back. I need to find that “fuck it” point and march on forward.
Jan, just do it hun. Seriously, head down there and get in the water. 🙂
Thanks Jen l am at my happiest around water…. so you know what… its time to let shit go…..hold my head high, get me some bloody gorgeous bathers and get back out there! #goneshopping
Jenny the beach is my happy place too. I’m there nearly every day for a walk, cupp or a swim…it just calms my soul. Happy cossie shopping xx
I have a two year old son who loves the water. He loves me with the purest love possible, so why wouldn’t I don some bathers and jump in the surf with him! I may not love my body in many a change room or photo, but I love sharing thy pure joy of the ocean with him!
Sadly Jess many women spend decades on the sidelines crippled by fear and self loathing. My wish is for all women to get off the sidelines and get back into living their best life.
Good on you mumma for getting off the sidelines x
I love your encouraging and practical tips. Would print this off if I could, for my local rural women’s group.
Wonder if you would come speak with us one day; our rural lives rarely see us on beaches so we usually lack confidence we do go. Half of them probably don’t even own bathers or shorts.
One has a pool, but won’t use it with visitors.
Tania I would love to. Feel free to email me at jenni@stylingcurvy.com with your location and i will see what I can do.
I also run workshops on style and body confidence 🙂
I love this post Jen and yes to giving less fucks!
We all have a body so we should just be at peace with what we have and own it.
Great photos you all look amazing Xx
Thanks so much Lisa.
I’m so proud of the girls for jumping in, i think we all look beautiful xx
God i love this and I love you girls!! I give way too many fucks way too much of the time. You guys make me wish I wasn’t such a twatwaffle and could just embrace ME
Liv, giving less fucks is freeing. What others think about me is none of my business 🙂
Meanwhile, ‘twatwaddle’…GOLD!
You all look amazing. Well done ladies. Here’s to a summer of fun on the beach, wearing whatever we want.
Amen to that Robynna x
What a brilliant Idea Jenni, to get all of you lovely ladies together on the beach in togs and each write a blog post about your different experiences.
Like you the beach is my happy place, but for a few years I did not enter the water, to self conscious to bare all in togs. A few years on and my confidence returned I now strut my stuff on the beach and love wading into the ocean. Fingers crossed it warms up soon & I can get my first swim of the season.
Thank you so much for continuing to get the body confidence message out there. You are an inspiration to so many ladies out there.
Ian’t it just the best feeling Jenni:-)
Here’s to your first swim of the season!
Brilliant post Jen! The 4 of you did such a great job and look terrific in your swimsuits. I just love how you show us the way. It’s such an important thing and such a challenge for many. With you on their side, summer will be a happier time. Cossie Confidence is everything 🙂 Thanks for supporting the #cossieconfidence movement too. Happy summer! Ax
Thankyou Anita x
Great work ladies well done?????

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you’re so inspiring! You all look totally fabulous – can’t wait to check out the other posts. As usual, top tips, this could be the best summer yet. Now I just need a cossie that fits!
Thanks Sammie 🙂 make it happen babe x
Boom alright!
Please come toMelbourne in the New Year, I’m your first client!
I’m there next year 🙂
We will meet over a glass of prosecco!
I loved being part of this super important event, reading comments from everyone is so encouraging as well. It’s good to be free!
Beth it was so good doing the shoot with you 🙂
You are such an inspiration. I’d like to purchase these swimmers but not sure what size to get. I’m in between a 16-18. Are the swimmers a small make?
Rachel I’m an 18 and wear the 18. Email the team at curvyswimwear if you are unsure.
Absolutely loving your blog, FB & IG pages! Have just “discovered” you! Love your message, positivity & inspiration! Amen ?
Thanks Suz and ‘welcome’ x
Jen this post is fabulous and you look stunning in those photos, you all do. I’m on the journey of bringing back my body confidence, and although I have a long way to go, can I just say thank you for being a shining light for all women. Your a rock star xx
Thankyou Beck…keep going, your inner goddess is waiting to bust out.
All four of you look amazing and are amazing. Go girls! We need more of this kind of confidence to encourage all women to enjoy the bodies they live in.
