Ring a ding-ding who doesn’t love a bit of bling?
I am mad for some razzle dazzle, in fact I am even known to wear sequins and oversized jewellery ‘before’ the sun goes down.
Look, life is short, don’t save anything ‘for best’ because today is your ‘best day’ and if that means dipping deep into the jewellery box (or dress up box) then I say “do it sista”!
Layer, layer, like a player!
Layering finer pieces is a nod to the bohemian style but with layered bling it screams ‘pretty luxe’. Layer neckpieces, arm candy and even rings.
Finer layered jewellery is perfect with the jeans and tee look, add a blazer to really finish of the look.
Heavier layered pieces look fabulous with bold print or colour, like a kaftan.
You won’t look like mutton dressed up as lamb!
Ladies often tell me they are worried about looking ‘overdone’ or ‘mutton dressed as lamb’…I say poppycock! There is no time limit or use by date on style so if you love it then wear it.
Of course if bold bling scares you then ease yourself into it with a little rose gold, which is such a pretty wear to wear some bling and suits everyone 🙂
Collect Hero Pieces
Sometimes we only need one piece of bling to pull off an outfit, call it the ‘show pony piece’ or the ‘statement piece’ but I call it the ‘hero piece’. Spend a little or a lot but collect them and actually wear them!
A hero piece is perfect with a monochrome outfit so it really shines.
Not all bling is equal but not everything needs to be expensive.
Now bling comes in all price points, I for one am happy to collect ‘investment pieces’ that will stand the test of time and the test of wear. Choose wisely though to be sure to get ‘good dollar per wear’.
Of course you don’t need to spend much to get the look you are after but look after the more budget friendly options and store them separately to get more life from them.
TIP, don’t hang chain necklaces as you will stretch the chain. Store in pouches or in a drawer.
