I’ve had a secret I’ve been busting to share, soon my lovelies. What isn’t a secret is my love for colour, I certainly wear more of it when the sun is shining but even in the depths of the cold and blustery winter months a little colour just makes me feel more alive…and happy. How about you, do you add colour in winter?
What about wearing your summer pieces all year long? Not all of your summer threads, but there’s certainly a few style hacks to get more dollar per wear from some of your pieces.
Pieces like your silk kaftans or dresses. Uh huh, you don’t need to save them ‘just’ for poolside or balmy summer evenings.
Ladies, I’m thrilled to announce I’m now a brand ambassador for ‘The Swank Store’. Stunning 100% luxury silk pieces in sizes 8-26 oozing with colour, high quality crystal embellishments and gorgeous prints. Oh, and affordable too! Stay tuned for a special offer later in the post.
I’ve been in talks with ‘The Swank Store’ for a little while now, they had me at ‘Silk kaftan,’ but I really needed to road test the styles to make sure they ticked all my boxes.
Pretty parcels arrived and ladies, I’m happy to say I’m in love! Which is why I’m partnering with ‘The Swank Store’ as a brand ambassador for the next few months. YAY! 🙂
I receive so many enquiries asking for versatile pieces that will make you feel a million bucks. Well, I personally can’t go past a gorgeous silk piece for a wedding, party, dinner, bbq…you get the picture, almost any celebration. They are soft, light, floaty and come in the most divine colours and prints.
Most silk dresses and kaftans can be worn several different ways, this versatility means you’ll achieve not only different looks but also excellent dollar per wear ?$$
Lately I’ve been wearing some ‘The Swank Store’ silk pieces even though it’s Winter. Ok, before you slip into your Ugg boots and ask me if I’ve gone loco, read on.
I know that in some areas of Australia the weather is bone chillingly cold, I get it. For the ladies in the North where winter rarely dips below 20 degrees and on the days in the South when the sun is actually shining you absolutely can weave some happy vibrancy into your style with your summer silks.
Let’s not forget the ladies who like to escape winter for a while and head overseas for some tropical island bliss, roll up your silks and you are sorted.
Check it out, you all went a bit cray-cray for this outfit on my social media…
Denim jeans, boots, jacket and a premium silk ‘Casa Blanca’ shorter style kaftan top. If you really feel the cold then add long sleeve layering underneath. Personally I live in the very cold state of South Australia, but the only time I ever really feel cold is when hopping from car to café/house/shops.
Once inside under the cranked up heating I’m peeling off layers. Oh, and menopause has me stripping too (not actual stripping!)
Ok, back to some winter styling hacks. This ‘Wild Sahara’ Long kaftan which would look fabulous with a spray-tan and wedges (maybe a cocktail too) in summer is doing double duty for me with denim and boots…in winter!!
I tucked the front into my jeans, flounced it to a length over my tummy that I was happy with and added some tan boots and an oversized clutch.
Sparkle and shimmer was the icing on the cake.
The floaty length makes me feel like a Queen and how good is it to see some warm colour? Makes my soul sing! The fact it’s a little attention grabbing just speaks to my personal style too ?
If bold isn’t your thing then choose some soft tones with a delicate print like I did here with the ‘Tangier Sunset’ maxi dress. YES, it was super windy when my Mister snapped these pics because, winter 🙂
Add some ankle boots and a layering slip for warmth…
And an injection of my personal style with double denim.
When layering double denim choose two different shades…
You all know I’m a massive fan of a knot in the hem of a dress/skirt. It creates shape, drape and interest.
It also allows my shoes and ankles to peek through.
I chose to keep the boots light and add denim for a daytime look but you could try adding grey or black boots…even long boots and a tailored black jacket or leather jacket for some rock star spunk! A bit of pretty gritty, soft pinks with badass leather would look ace for an evening of dinner and drinks with your girlfriends.
Just play with ‘personalising’ your silk pieces, change the length using belts or changing the hemline with knots. Layer like a player and have fun!! Style is about wearing pieces that make you look and feel good. So if dark colours and ‘all black’ aren’t for you, get creative and start playing with your summer pieces.

Looking forward to some warm weather and a holiday to get one of these out xx
Hi Cheryl and thanks for taking the time to read and comment xxx
Hi Jenni-I’ve just bought my first kaftan from swank (the windsor short kaftan) and can’t wait to try it-you look absolutely gorgeous in your choices-love the idea of the front tuck too. Luce
Oh, fantastic Luce 🙂 The longer ones are better for tucking and knotting but give the shorter one a go tucking the front into shorts and pants. it will look fab!
