For a woman who only started wearing denim jeans in her early forties I go alright. In fact I’ve made up for lost years and I now have quite the collection, with my favourite styles being skinny leg, droppies and boyfriend. It’s the latter that often have ladies stumped on how to wear them.
A few easy ways to wear your boyfriend denim jeans
The trick to wearing the baggier (shapeless) boyfriend style is…
-wear them slung a little lower on the hip
– team them with a preppy tee, fitted shirt, chambray shirt, pretty lace blouse or a blazer
-always cuff the hem to expose some sexy skin at the ankle
-‘pretty’ them up with a heel or ‘toughen’ them up with ankle boots….with a heel. See the recurring theme? Yup, it’s a heel.
Of course you can also wear them with a brogue or a pair of white joggers but today I’m sharing the ankle boots. ok 🙂
It’s not too often you will see me in a black shoe but a black ankle boot is an essential to get me through winter. To shake the clunkiness (is that even a word?) of a fully black ankle boot (which makes me look heavy) I choose a black boot with a blonde heel. See how the heel is a lightish timber colour? Well, it bookends back with my hair which creates a balanced look PLUS the lighter heel is a fresher, more relaxed vibe. Perfect for my personal style.
Not only am I wearing black ankle boots but they also have a heel, a 7cm heel! I know right. I’m not on the sauce, in fact I’m not even bothered because these babies are Frankie4 ankle boots, so my feet are very, very happy.
I’ve been wearing Frankie4 footwear since November and to be honest they are almost the only shoe I wear. I just instictively grab them…because my feet have mind control and they are begging for them.
So why Frankie4 ankle boots?
I receive enquiries from my community almost daily about Frankie4 shoes and the question asked the most is “are they worth the money” and “why?”
My answer?… heck YES and because your feet take thousands of steps every single day and hold up your whole entire body. That’s not an easy job, so how about you treat your feet to the best you can afford and give them a round of applause every now and then in the form of a massage or pedi.
In case you need to know the nitty gritty here’s some extra info on just what the ‘Ashley’ ankle boots from Frankie4 offer..
-Patented custom fit pack in each box of shoes to fit wide, narrow and standard feet.
-Podiatrist & Physiotherapist designed removable Functional Footbed
-leather upper
-heel support and cradle cushioning
-arch support
-leather lined
-durable rubber sole
-4mm cushioning under footbed, total 7mm forefoot cushioning
-stable heel
-easy access side zip and side gusset
And the most important…peace of mind I’m doing right by my feet, hips and knees.
As you can see ‘podiatrist designed’ doesn’t mean dog ugly, far from it. The Frankie4 collections keep getting better and better and the 2017 winter collection is pretty bloody rad. My tip would be to grab a can of leather protectant spray and give your leather shoes a spray. Think of it as insurance for your shoes, especially in winter when mud and water can wreak havoc on your fancy kicks.
My other tip is always store your boots in a box and when they aren’t on high rotation pop some thick rolled up socks or an inflatable boot insert inside them to help them retain their shape.
The winter winds rolled into town recently and I gotta tell you, I’m excited. I love winter fashion, and boots so expect to see them on my feet more often. How about you…are you team jeans? Tried the boyfriend style? (I’m nosey hey) Got a good pair of black ankle boots in your wardrobe?

So Jen if I can’t wear a heel (balance issues with MS) stick to slim jeans not a boyfriend type?
You can definitely wear them with a sneaker for a sorty look or add a brogue and button up collared shirt for a relaxed classic look.
Thanks love❤️

Hi, after having surgery on both my feet I have realized how important it is to look after your feet. That means buying good shoes that cost money? Your feet will love you for it. We only have 2 & they do a lot for us. Thanks Jenny.
Hi Jenn how do you find the heels? If I wear “normal” heels I get knee pain, so have been reduced to Sketchers and Birkenstocks, im loving the Frankie4 boots (waiting on delivery of a pair of flats from their sale) should I go flat boots or do you reckon heels would be safe, thank you muchly xxSharon
Hi Sharon
when I wear normal heels I het hip, knee and back pain. This can happen after just half an hour. With Frankie$ I’ve been able to wear the heeled boots all day, I do give myself a rest the next day and switch back to a jogger or brogue.
Thanks hun I’ve played safe and ordered flats ?
Looking terrific Jenni. ILove those boots especially.
