With most places in Australia experiencing a drop in temperature it’s time to start thinking about layers. One of my favourite items to keep the morning and afternoon chills at bay is a cape, you might even call it a wrap or poncho whatever we label them they are snuggly, warm and easy to wear.
LAYER WITH A CAPE
Even better a cape is functional, if you don’t like restrictive layers (like me ) then throw a cape over your outfit and feel the warmth plus the freedom of movement.
With the trend of bell sleeves and boho sleeves a jacket can be harder to layer, there is nothing more frustrating than having a sleeve all bunched up under your sleeve jacket…am I right?! Choosing a cape to compliment your outfit is the answer.

CAPE PERSONALITY
You could stick to neutral tones like grey, black or winter whites or add some pattern or print or even some texture. A little tassel here and there is a fun touch too. Whatever style you choose make sure it reflects your style personality as it’s the outer layer people will see first.
Of course it’s also a good idea to make sure they what’s ‘under’ the cape is fabulous too because with fluctuations of temperatures outside and hormonal temperatures rising in the inside we ladies like to peel our layers throughout the day (and night).

Wanna know something else I love about a cape? They always fit! Yup, season after season no matter how much my body shape changes my capes have got my back (literally covered). All of the pieces I have featured here are One Size Fits All.
There’s lots of fun to be had wearing a cape and you really can personalise your look. I also love to see a cape belted, pin a corner with a favourite brooch, tuck a corner into your waistband or under your bra strap to create interest too.

This season there are capes galore and at lots of price points, I hope you enjoyed the collection we pulled together for this post and don’t forget to check the chain stores if you are after budget options. The cape really is a super hero of the winter wardrobe, do you think you might add one to your wardrobe soon?
Til next time
