Sometimes I get dressed for the day and well, there’s days when I just need a little help. I am a curvy woman (truth), one who has birthed two children and my body just aint what it used to be. It can be lumpy and bumpy, which I am cool with but some clothes and fabrics…well I say again, some days I need help.
You know what I’m talking about right? A tee that is too sheer, a dress that grabs in all the wrong places and let’s talk VPL. Visible panty line can kill an outfit, I mean who really wants to see the shape of my nanna knickers through the fabric of my dress right?
The lesson I learned the hard way
Now let’s get one thing clear, I do not do rib busting shapewear, I mean yes, I have tried it and regretted it. About fifteen years ago at my brother in-laws wedding I remember feeling so uncomfortable, trussed up in a pair of shapewear shorts that actually did nothing for me as everyone could clearly see them (and the fat spilling over the top) through the fabric of my dress. Yes, it was outlined and on display and the photos from the day do not lie.
I also remember the feeling of shame as I sat in the toilet at the wedding reception and yanked those shape-wear pants off. While I was stuffing them into the bin I swore black and blue to never ever spend an obscene amount of money on knickers that made me look and feel like a stuffed sausage. It was humiliating, and I have never ever bought into restrictive shape-wear since. Oh, and yes I has ‘back up undies’ in my purse.
I’m not a quitter
Look, I haven’t given up on creating a smoother silhouette and for a few years now I have been wearing slips from Sonsee Woman which give me a fab smooth look under a frock. Well Sonsee Woman have gone a step further and recently released a ‘shape-wear short’. They won’t restrict movement and make you feel uncomfortable, nuh uh the range of shapewear from Sonsee Woman is different. It’s lightweight, breathable and accentuates my shape creating a smooth silhouette, perfect for any occasion and every type of outerwear.
It also has some added extra benefits like anti chafing to prevent rubbing and discomfort and a 360 degree seamless stretch. These shapewear shorts are knitted in one single tube, making them lightweight, seamless, durable and able to stretch in every direction.
Clearly they are not the kind of short that suck you in and break a rib. Nope, it’s all gentle action..
HIGH WAIST HERO
They also have a high waist which smooths and shapes your waistline to make the most of your curves. YAY. Sure, your knicks might go all the way up to your bra band but they also keep me smoother right up to my boobies and I am a fan of that.
ANTI ROLL WAISTBAND
And a wide, anti-roll waistband that actually stay in place and doesn’t creep or dig in (for realz). Ladies I can confidently say that when I wear these pants they stay up all.day.long! Look they meet my bra band and stay there.
PERFECT MATCH COMFORT SHAPEWEAR BRA
Ok so you have comfy womfy pants and I bet you are now wondering about a comfy womfy bra…am I right! Ladies I have got you sorted. I wore this super lightweight and breathable ‘comfort bra‘ while traveling Japan and it has even become my ‘go to’ weekend bra. Sometimes we still need a little somethin’ covering ‘the girls’ when we take our everyday bra off and the Sonsee ‘comfort bra’ has gotchya.
I love it because it’s seamless, doesn’t dig in and has wide enough straps to give me a little support.
Yeah…doesn’t matter what bra I wear that fat roll will always be there #nofilter #keepinitreal

Big thanks to Seawall appartments in Glenelg where we stayed for this shoot, a glam and cosey apparemt sure helped this middle aged mumma feel comy while getting her kit off to be photographed up close and personal. Next time we stay I will definitely be filling the tub for a soak while watching the ocean.
Til next time
