Jeggings…the word conjures up images of nasty, cheap leggings pretending to be jeans. Well, it used to but not anymore. Yup I’ve flipped and am a total convert to a quality jegging. Did you notice I used the word ‘quality‘?
I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of grey jeans for about a year now, I know…some things take time and I’m not willing to settle. I adore grey, it’s one of my favourite colours especially in the cooler months, it settles well with my skin tone and complements my blue eyes.
All of my wardrobe works back with grey, I wear blue, claret, black, orange, pink and berry a lot…and they all work well with grey. Actually just about anything works well with grey because it’s super neutral.
When I stumbled upon these Sussan jeggings I thought ‘why not’? So I headed behind the curtain of the change room and tried them on for size.
Let’s not fool ourselves, they aren’t jeans, but damn they give a very similar look to that of a skinny leg jean. More solid than leggings but with the same comfort factor.
These Sussan ones have a similar texture to denim, rear pockets and some metal hardware. All in all I’m very impressed! So impressed I bought them!
Jeggings work well with boots and flats, particularly ballet flats if you cuff your jegging. I’ll be teaming mine with ankle boots and my leopard loafers. See how the Orange in the leopard print and my top just adores the grey? You can get this top from Cotton on Broadway in Glenelg.
I could have sized down in my jegging, the sales assistant suggested I do but I chose to stay with a regular size as I liked the slight bagginess around the ankle and honestly wasn’t liking seeing my leg dimples through the jeggings. I’m not sure how much these will stretch and wether or not I will regret my sizing choice, I’ll let you know.
Country Road do a mid rise jegging in blue and black, a little pricier but I’ve heard great reports about them.
I checked out these Target ones (below), a denim like fabric in black for just $20, a small investment for a great look…you might like to take a pair for a spin. I’ve fallen hard for these and will purchase another pair because these bad boys make me feel amazing!
I’ve added a simple long sleeve tee with lace hem and some shape wear under these jeggings which smoothed me out like magic…no muffin top. I also suggest wearing a top or jacket that covers your backside and lady bits…we all know the rule…leggings aren’t pants and really, neither are jeggings, so cover up. I’m also covering up with this wrap (gifted) from Sequins and Sand. I can wear it as a scarf and as the afternoon air turns cool I can convert it to a wrap…very handy.
I’m a fan of the skinny leg and how they flatter, it’s all about the shoe and the top you team them with. Get those right and you will always have something to wear.
What about you…do you wear jeggings?
Have you tried any great jeggings that you’d like to recommend?
Do you think you might give jeggings a go?
Til next time,
Jen x

I have only ever worn jeans boot cut, love them with boots. But will wander to Target and try theirs. A good price and the top from Sussans looks really lovely. In fact you look hot in every outfit. Thanks for sharing.xxxx
Thanks Maggie, I love Sussan…especially at sale time
Looking gorgeous. You almost have me convinced.
Almost?… Give them a try
You’re such an enabler
That didn’t post my whole comment!!
You’re such an enabler wink wink… I just came back from Target with the Blue AND Black pairs!!
Haha love it Rachael
I’ve always steered clear of leggings because I think I’m too short for them – I’m about 5’4″ and size 14-16 . What do you think? you look fabulous Jen!!
Kim give them a try but add a wedge heel or if wearing flats cuff the ankle. Add a tailored jacket sitting around the hip or just above. Add a top that is s bit longer than jacket with a curved hem. Good luck x
I’m a huge fan of jeggings. I get mine from Dorothy Perkins online (UK based but ship down under.) They are really reasonable, do heaps of colours, a huge range of sizes and short, regular and long lengths. They wash really well too. I love the look of a skinny jean with the comfort of leggings – winning on all counts!
I need to check those out Sammy!
You’re rocking those jeggings lady! I have 3 pairs of leggings I bought from Cotton On. They are much thicker than regular leggings and also feature back pockets. I love them. SO SO comfy xx
Jeggings!! Damn auto correct x
haha x
Aren’t they fab! 🙂
I love jeggings too – have bought some Sussan ones since you mentioned them a few days ago – just need some cool weather to give them a try out. However I bought some from Suzanne Grae last year and they are soooo good – and inexpensive. I need some denim ones so I hope they have some..
Awesome Christina…the Target ones are denim available in blue or black and only $20!
