We were intending to take a drive to the Adelaide hills on Sunday but got busy and of course the day started to get away from us so instead we decided to take a wander at Brighton Beach. We go there quite a bit as the Mister and I are drawn to the relaxed café scene that our fab beachside suburbs offer. This time I took my camera and I gotta tell you when you see a place you visit regularly through a lens you truly see it differently. Brighton Beach is fun, eclectic, relaxed and has soul.
We wandered down the café strip on jetty Rd where fur babies, human babies and hungry peeps hang out.
Popped into Copenhagen which was heaving with sugar high peeps so I took a snap of the self serve sprinkles dispenser before we hightailed it outa there to look elsewhere. Who doesn’t love sprinkles right?!
We made our way to the jetty where we used to take the kids to watch New years Eve fireworks, we’ve even done some fishing off the jetty but not had much luck. The Arch Of Remembrance makes me think of my Dad every time I see it. He passed away 18 years ago and was in the army for over 40 years, uhuh I grew up an Army brat who went to plenty of Dawn Service ceremonies. My Dad joined the British army at 13, served 22 years then moved to Australia and served another 20…he was gentle and guarded and distant, but now as an adult I understand why. War can bloody mess people up.
How cool is this street art right near the jetty?! Someone decided they needed goggles, love it!
Whenever I see a Norfolk pine it takes me back to summers spent at Burleigh Heads…a beach isn’t complete without them.
…or a palm tree and a hotel.
Thanks to my Mister for carrying my camera bag…he’s handy like that and just quietly quite a spunk!
More street art…a squid, very cool huh!
I really want this basket! It’s from Aqua Living a great place to pick up gifts, jewellery, bags and clothes.
We ended up having coffee and cake at ‘The Edge Deli’…it’s a fave place because the food is excellent and scrummy and we love the retro vintage styling.
On the way home we visited the littlest nephews for giggle n fun. A perfect end to a Sunday.
How was your Sunday? Do you have a favourite café in your area?
Til next time,
Jen x
what a perfect read on this Monday morning..You are right about Brighton area having a soul..and I also think Glenelg too..well, maybe back, when I was a kid. Back in the day, when we had September school holidays, my family always went to Glenelg for two weeks and made the Royal Adelaide Show a must visit..but I remember walking the beach with mum and dad or just dad and I walking together to get the paper, fish and chip meals and to a country kid, Glenelg was a fast and busy place..lol. Norfolk Pines always remind me of Glenelg and very happy holidays spent there..thank you for bringing back some lovely memories..xx
I love sneaky memories! Glenelg is still gorgeous Ann, I shop there a lot. Impulse, Vertice and Who I choose to be are faves and a few streets over on the Broadway is Cotton on Broadway another fave. X
Brighton is lovely, i was there on Sunday also, went to the surf club for a quick coffee and catch up with an ex work colleague. I didn’t get a chance to wander down the main street as I had to get to lunch with a couple of girlfriends ( Estia at Henley Square – so delicious) but will definitely check out your suggestions for some cake and shopping next time x
Ann the square is where I am every morning Jodie (right now)…gorgeous! Girly lunches are the best x
Whenever we visit Adelaide from Mount Gambier, Jetty Road is a must for us, time permitting.
It also brings back childhood memories of all of my brothers and sisters jammed in Dads FJ Holden (no seatbelts back then) I always got to sit between Mum and Dad in the front seat as I was the youngest. We would take our Sunday drive from Hahndorf where we lived, for a day at Brighton, where Dad would park the FJ and let us kids go wild. Back then it was like going to Disneyland – a special family outing. Ahhh memories !
Awesome memories Ann, thanks for sharing. We live in a beautiful part of the world x
My beautiful beach! You have captured it perfectly with those beautiful photos. It is all so intoxicating. Every day a different colour scheme, last Friday the sea was the most magnificent shade of blue.
We are so lucky to have this little piece of Paradise.
Isn’t it beautiful June, Henley is my backyard beach (well a few blocks away), I have to visit daily seeing the ocean is good for the soul. The sunsets are pretty special too x
It’s only a few kms up the road Fleur, the next beach over. Brighton is very family friendly and quaint x
I do love a good beach outing – and knitted bikes for the win!
T x
The bike was very cool Trish x
What a lovely day out! I adore Adelaide. Having grown up in Broken Hill, we made many visits to Adelaide over the years. I don’t think I have ever been to Brighton Beach but am quite fond of Glenelg and have many memories hanging out there. We were there only about 2 years ago now to visit friends. If we ever visit again I will be sure to add Brighton Beach to my must see list!
That dress looks banging on you! x
Haha, thanks Erin! X

Every time I come to Adelaide, I always go to Glenelg. Looks like I’ll have to pay Brighton a visit next time. Love all the super snaps, you’re really giving your camera a workout and I love how you’ve captured the special moments and things. I can almost feel like I’m there… now wouldn’t that be nice?!
That would be awesome Sammie! I’m loving my camera, so much to learn but I’m giving it a crack x
The only time I have been to Adelaide we stayed at Brighton. It’s a lovely spot. For me personally, it’s both a blessing and a curse I live literally doors from a cafe! Jx
I visit my cafe daily Jess but it’s a 2 minute drive. I need to sit n see the ocean for therapy LOL x
