Ahhhh Autumn. When the leaves tell a technicolor story all burnished gold, reds, yellow and tan. We crank up the crockpot, read more, sip hot chocolates in the evening and start putting away our summer clothing in favour of heavier, snuggly pieces.
Or do we?
Autumn took aaaages to kick in across most of the country and while it’s cool and some days are more like winter there’s still some sunshine to be had.
Like today. There were moments of dark skies and the wind sure was blustery at times but the sun was out, blazing even!
Cue summer frocks teamed with winter styling. Uhuh, the ability to be able to wear ‘most’ of your wardrobe all year around means your clothing works harder for you. If you want it to.
There’s been lots of talk about minimal wardrobes on the Internet and that’s cool if that’s what you want. BUT, if you love fashion, love clothes and have a wardrobe that I’d give my right arm for then wear what you want. Buy ALL the clothes. Enjoy!
Me, I’m pretty blessed to receive wonderful clothing as part of this blog, giving me the opportunity to share ‘more’ of what’s available in the world of fashion and style. Like this *‘Willow Print Maxi’ dress from Lillianna Plus.
A light maxi with a bohemian vibe print that is perfect for the Autumn sunshine. Look, I’m going to be very honest and say I’ve found the sizing in the Liliana Plus range a little inconsistent, which is why I haven’t been wearing all the pieces sent my way. However this dress is worth sharing, I’ve been wearing the size 2 in the range and while some pieces swim on me this dress is actually a perfect fit.
With a side split on one side of the hem I can do my favourite thing…knot the hem. It allows my boots to peek through and doesn’t swamp me as much.
A ‘v’ neck is something I love and this dress delivers that and fluttery sleeves ?
I’ve added a navy poncho for warmth and balance, let’s all give praise to blanket stitch, swoon!
I bought this cape at a local boutique ‘Cotton On Broadway’, (which is NOT like the chain store ‘cotton on’) find them on Facebook HERE.
I’m a fan of a cape/poncho because they are easy to layer and remove when I heat up, which is all the freakin time thanks to menopause. See how this one picks up on the navy blue blue in the print, tying them together?
The darker colour just makes this dress look less ‘summer’ and more ‘cooler weather appropriate’. I could even add a denim jacket and tan boots for a different look.
If you’ve got summer maxis consider layering to get more wear from them, or you can grab this Lilliana Plus Willow Print maxi.
Oh, and the ducks loved the bread we fed them. Autumn, ducks, lake= a perfect Sunday.
Do you like to wear your summer dresses in winter? Got any style tips you would like to share for how you wear them?

Just discovered your blog Jenni after following your style in Insty for a little while. My daughter is off to India in about a month and is stressing she doesn’t have the right clothes for their heat as well as modesty. She is not a big girl but has large shoulders from many years of swimming, quite tall (178cm) and a 12-14 bottom. I’ve told her to wear leggings and smocks but she says because of the shoulder size she needs it makes her look bigger down the bottom. I’d love some suggestions for some online shops for her. TIA.

Hi Donna, how exciting for your daughter. I would stick to natural fabrics like cotton, bamboo and linen. Check out
