Read on to find out more about what makes Brenda tick (and that dinner party guest list!)
I’m always inspired by:
Smart women who have been able to build their lives doing things they love, and who inspire and lift up other women.
Summer or Winter?
I love summer for the beaches and I love winter for beaches in the rain, with woolly jumpers and open fireplaces.
Kindness and generosity in people who are willing to give to others who may not be as fortunate. I admire those who have little, but still give of themselves.
The best advice I have been given is……
Be authentically you… Don’t try to be someone else. Always be kind on the way up as you may meet them on the way down. Treat EVERYONE as you wish to be treated. And lastly, it doesn’t have to be perfect to start out!
Good coffee every morning! And to be loved for who I am and not what I might be able to become, (eg: thinner, prettier, richer….)
Every morning I……
Have a coffee in bed, look at Instagram and Facebook, post my socials and then talk to my son about the latest advancements in his music genre for the day He programs the playlist for the school drop off ride. I now know more facts and figures about “All Day” and “Post Malone” than I will ever need to know.
Last book you read:
The Third Space by Dr Adam Fraser.
My dream dinner party guest list:
Jenni Eyles, Taryn Brumfitt, Sarah Harry, Megan Castran, Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, Audrey Hepburn, Pink, Robbie Williams, Ray Keane, Billy Connolly, David Reynolds
What can’t you live without?
I would have to say my phone as it has everything on it for my business and my social life. But, I also could not live without my close friends who lift me up, they know who they are!!
Tell us a little about BeKeane Healthy & Fit:
Bekeane Healthy and Fit is a brand of active wear born out of a need for high leggings and tops of high quality fabrics. Made well, with pockets, a high waist, waist ties and funky fun prints. I hated the size label and I knew many others did too, so we use names for our sizes as there is no standard sizes in the industry. We range from a Bare (8) to a Voluptuous (38). I am very proud of the quality of our products.
What advice would you give to women wanting to start their own business?
Do something that you are passionate about, it makes the days that you are not feeling the love easier. Don’t wait to know everything – you don’t need to know it all you can just jump in and learn as you go but get ensure you do have some women around you for support and to bounce things off!
What is your favourite piece/print in the current collection?
My favourite piece or pieces at the moment are the new Day of the Dead leggings and the black loose fit bamboo T-shirt … so many great ones it’s hard!
Who is the BeKeane woman?
The BeKeane woman is EVERY woman of all shapes and sizes who likes to be a bit sassy and bad-assy…. she is fun and supports other women and if she doesn’t love her body she is learning how to, and working hard at self love.
How does BeKeane Fit & Healthy back to your community?
We give back to the community by supporting local women’s sporting events and gyms with active wear for their raffles or motivational prizes!
We support groups like “Escaping your Comfort Zone” and the “Melbourne WLS Community”.
I am also working to provide donations to Parkinson’s, Beyond Blue and BreastCancer with some special campaigns.
Something you don’t know about me is:
I have depression (PTSD). I have lived with it for years. Today there are many more amazing days, than struggle days as I continue to work to get healthier …. I am stronger now and can manage my anxiety.
I am lucky to be surrounded by wonderful friends and family who lift me up …. oh and for me drugs and a psychologist help 🙂 . It’s OK to not be OK.
A huge thank you to Brenda for being part of my Getting to Know You series – you can find out more about BeKeane Healthy & Fit here:
