Say hello to Kasey Rainbow! This bright young thing is the latest in my series, chatting to inspiring creative Australian women. Kasey is an amazing multi-tasker! Author, illustrator, designer & Mumma, among other things! Grab a cuppa & come have a read!
Your personal style in 3 words:
Bright, comfortable and fun!
I’m always inspired by:
Other creatives. I follow so many differently talented and wonderfully creative people on social media. Seeing them create amazing things always inspires me!
My home is….
My daughter.
I need……
Tacos. Tacos are life.
Every morning I……
Cuddle my daughter and have an iced coffee!
On the weekend you’ll find me…..
Spending time with my family.
My dream dinner party guest list….
ALL my favourite Insta friends! Now THAT would be one hell of a dinner party 😉
Cocktail of choice:
Margarita! Extra salt.
My spirit animal is…..
A cat. For sure. Being born in the year of the Tiger, and a Leo star sign, I was destined to be a cat lady!
Currently binge watching:
Schitt’s Creek on Netflix.
My first creation was…
Hand painted wooden necklaces! My first start-up business back in 2014.
Colour is……
Everything!
Tell us a little about what you do:
I am a digital artist and fabric designer. I like to create quirky personality portraits of people to showcase their true colours. I also design big, bright and bold fabric patterns! Be prepared to see a lot more people wearing ‘Kasey Rainbow’ in 2019 😉 On the side, I also like to showcase my love of fun fashion!
How do you give back to your community?
I like to give back in any way I can. Most recently, I use my platform and products to raise awareness for mental health. My children’s book donates 30% of proceeds to beyondblue, and my BIG LOVE book donates 30% to PANDA. I also like to do ad-hoc projects to raise awareness and funds, like my LADY RAINBOW products for example. I also like to openly discuss my mental health issues on my public platforms – I feel it allows my followers to know a different side of me and shows that despite the colour and smiles we may see on social media, there is often a lot more going on in someone’s life.
What advice would you give to other women wanting to start their own business?
Be true to yourself. If it makes you happy – do it. If it makes you uneasy – question why. Find yourself a tribe of women who will support you no matter what – I have definitely found that and would not be where I am today without them.
Thank you so much for joining us Kasey! I just lurve your work – didn’t she just nail the image of moi?! You can check out more of Kasey here:
