I discovered grilled haloumi later in life and I gotta say I’m a huge fan! Organic goats cheese haloumi is my favourite, it’s like magic in my mouth and when teamed with pear slices you have a salty/sweet afternoon snack to keep the munchies at bay.
YOU NEED…
1 pear washed and cut into 3mm slices
2-4 slices of haloumi
Garlic infused olive oil
LET’S MAKE IT…
Cut haloumi slices about ½ cm thick. If the haloumi slices are too thin they won’t hold their shape when cooked.
Add a little garlic infused olive oil to a griddle pan (for fancy char stripes)-of course you can use a regular fry pan if you don’t have a griddle pan.
Once oil is warmed add cheese slices and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, long enough for stripes to appear and a golden crust to form.
Layer a slice of pear on a gorgeous side plate, top with a piece of the grilled haloumi and then another piece of pear. You can keep going and have a large stack or just make two small stacks.
Fresh crunchy pear and warm Haloumi…YUM! Eat while still warm.
good idea and it looks pretty jen! … just the ticket for a snack or other!
I love haloumi! … so versatile and a good healthy protein hit!
