You know that feeling you get when you slip on your favourite jumper? Your head slides through the neck, then your arms snake their way into the sleeves and finally you pull that baby down aaand …cosy comfort rules!
Yeaahh! I like it too♥♥♥
I like it so much I get a little twitchy when I see a sweater dress. I think it harks back to the 80’s when I wore my Sportsgirl sweater dress, the one with the wide ribbed band on the hem (for the love of good times, bring it back!), man I thought I was it and a bit in that dress. I was the one teaming it with my white reebok ankle sneakers and large hoop earrings. Oh, you too:-)
I reckon I may have even had a hyper colour version!
These days at forty four I’m mad for a sweater dress. Like this one from Harlow.
Oh, I’m not new to a sweater dress, I’ve had quite a few but this one is the same cut as one I had last year so I just knew it would work for me.
I’m a fan of most dresses, a dress is a complete outfit which makes getting dressed a breeze. But I like to make my wardrobe work hard, which means each piece needs to have the bones to be worn multiple ways.
In the biz we call it ‘good dollar per wear’.
This dress skims in all the right places, in fact I’m gonna use the ‘F’ word and say it’s down right flattering!
With a back that has a longer curved hem, 3/4 batwing sleeves, a ‘V’ neck and melange fabric it ticks ALL the style boxes. Even better, I’ve been able to style it many ways. So if you’re wondering how you can wear a sweater dress here’s how…
♦As you may have guessed I do love a jacket or shirt around the waist, because it breaks up my apple shape and gives me a waist…winning!
♦Bare legs love ankle boots, the shorter the skirt…the higher the heel ?
♦Try adding leggings or skinny leg jeans when the weather turns cooler, team with ankle boots but leave a little bare skin at the ankle. It’s a styling trick to look slimmer AND it balances out the décolleté skin.
♦Create a different look with a side knot. Just look at the drape…love it ❤
♦Add a scarf for some colour and print or have fun with fringing.
♦Layer up your sweater dress with a long scarf, belt and long line vest. This is a great way to add pattern, colour and texture. I’ve been digging on this *Bohemian Traders one., I mean…look at the print. SWOON♥
♦Elongate with a longer pendant.
♦For a relaxed look add white street sneakers, a chambray shirt and a backpack (my favourite kinda look).
However you wear it I can bet once you try one you will want to wear it often.
I know I’m planning too?
Til next time,
Jen x

Looking gorgeous. I haven’t attempted to wear a sweater dress in years. That might need to change.

I’m a size 18-20 with a post baby gut lol I steer clear of sweater dresses, as much as I looooive them…..but not now, going to buy one right away lol !!! Hmmm jacket or shirt around the waist is going to be happening a lot around here me thinks ❤️ Xo
Have fun experimenting Natalie xx
I must have missed this post, love it and how you have teamed it with other items, very versatile piece for anyone’s wardrobe ??
So I guess more visible legs need more definition hence the higher heel. I also read the longer the skirt the lower the heel and that also seems to look good. Maybe because if only the ankle or little more is visible, the leg looks straighter with flats?
Yes you do look stunning in your sweater dress .. love all your looks ?.. thanks heaps for all the tips .. I want one !!?
Oh you’re welcome x
What size are you wearing please Jen?
In this pic I was smaller than I am now and am in a S (16), I sway between S and M (18).
I never thought I could pull that sweater dress look off. I’m not just a apple shape, more like a barrel with limbs. But maybe I’ll give it a go. I usually wear long tunics with leggings. Afraid to wear a heel more than 2′ high. I’m not 30 anymore. But if only Your Frankie boots weren’t so blasted expensive, & shipped to Canada without adding a extra $ 100 for shipping.
Terri the whining bitcher from Canada!! Luv u Jen!!
Oh I’m sure you can team it with a lower heeled shoe or sneakers. Enjoy x
Loving thst long line vedt tho!
