Fun! It’s time to inject a little more fun into life.. Even when times are tough there’s a place for fun…it’s pretty much necessary.
When I was going through chemo there were many ugly, shitty days, many…but there was also fun!
On chemo days I would dress up, draw on my brows and pop on a bright lippy. My mister and I would meet my friend in the oncology ward and get ready for the business of having poison pumped imto to me. We giggled, chatted and ate our way through 18 rounds of chemo. After chemo my Mister would head back to work and my friend and I would head out for a fancy pants lunch and give cancer the bird. Yeah fuck you cancer I’m choosing to have fun.
My 3 loves and I went away for holidays…not too far, a beach house we hired at Port Elliot or a weekend in Sydney, that kinda holiday. It wasn’t all plain sailing though, in between bone crunching pain, daily injections, and many other awful side effects we chose to have fun. We had friends visit for meals, played mini golf, ate ice cream, saw a movie and swam in the ocean…well I watched from the sidelines. But we made plans and followed through.
Some days a coffee date was the difference between a day spent in the depths of depression or finding the silver lining. Trust me there’s always a silver lining in each day, it might be a smile, the suns rays on your neck, a cuddle from your kids, a good piece of chocolate cake or a bill that was a little smaller than expected. The silver lining is what keeps me going, a little injection of fun feeds my silver lining…get the picture?
Do you look for the silver linings like me? More importantly will you be injecting more fun into your days?
Here’s to more fun and brilliant silver linings!
