Proper lingerie care is essential for longevity, because let’s face it we work damn hard to spend a wad of moolah to have our nether regions covered in a pretty (and sexy) fashion.
Building a lingerie wardrobe that you can rotate will see your pretties last longer. I’m not necessarily talking a bra for each day of the week but if you exercise ALOT then invest in a couple of sports bras, same goes for everyday bras like a t shirt bra, grab a few.
Ummm, excuse me but how sexy and fun is this new collection ^*City Chic briefs and ^*City Chic bra?! The hot tip is I’ve worn them both several times and the briefs stay put while the bra gives me amazing shape! I even did a strip down for a client earlier this week to show her how amazing it was…she was totally sold too 🙂 I’ll be posting pics of the two sets I was sent (and the set I purchased) next week with my feedback as promised. City Chic currently have an awesome special that I took advantage of last night…purchase a bra and matching briefs for just $50 for the set! Now back to lingerie care…
There’s a few other ways to care for and stretch out the life of your lingerie….
. Wash new lingerie before wearing, I know it’s tempting to pop them straight on and get your inner Miranda on but wash them to remove any residual chemicals, because who wants icky chemicals near your clacker!
. Hand washing is preferred over machine washing…because, gentle.
. Gentle detergents are best and steer clear of bleaches.
. Keep your lingerie out of the dryer as heat will break down the elastic. Instead pop them out in the fresh air to dry, gentler and more hygienic.
. Never iron your lingerie…DER!
. I know bra fitters will tell you to replace your bras every 6 to 9 months but if you look after them and rotate you can double that amount of time out of your lingerie. So look after them 🙂
Hand wash tips…
. Fill your sink with lukewarm water and add some gentle detergent, soak lingerie for up to an hour.
. Gently rub the fabric together to remove dirt.
. Rinse in cool water (until the water runs clear).
. Lay garment flat on a towel then place a second towel on top and press to remove excess water.
. Hang to dry.
Machine Washing tips…
. When using a washing machine, a mesh or lingerie bag is best to separate bras and keep protected. Hook the backs of your bras together.
. Put similar colour items together in the lingerie bag
. Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water with gentle detergent…gentle.
. When you take your molded cup bras out of the wash, reshape the cups with your hands.
. Don’t wring out or stretch your bras, ever!
Tips for storing your bras
Avoid tossing your bras and knickers into one drawer together. Instead take time to separate your molded cup bras from the rest of your lingerie. Molded cups will pucker and bend if folded, which shortens your bra’s life. Instead, buy drawer dividers to keep them organised. Anything for a trip to IKEA right?
FUN TIP –To dry a bra quickly that you need, use your salad spinner and then hang 🙂
