It’s been a big week. I’m tired, so tired I wanna lay on the floor at the airport and sleep and I don’t even care how gross that is but I do worry about someone taking off with my bag so I don’t, there’s a few hours to pass until I board my flight back home and normally I would eat and drink ALL the coffee but my guts are full and I am all coffeed out after a delightful high tea situation with BUPA today.
Wow Melbourne, what a week I’ve had in your beautiful city. Sure it’s been dreary rain and a bit blustery with bursts of sunshine but that’s cool, it’s so very Melbourne right? You know what else is so very Melbourne, great coffee and seriously fab smashed avo.
I’m a creature of habit, when I find a cafe that ticks all the boxes I frequent it. So what are all the boxes? Cool tunes✔️ friendly service ✔️chilled vibe✔️ food that’s fresh and tasty✔️bloody great coffee✔️
So when I stumbled on the cafe located in the same lane way as my hotel (very handy) and it felt like home well, it just made being away from home easier.
Right now I’m missing home, missing my people. The huz, the kids and my dog. I mean I was off tripping in Bali recently and now a week in Melbourne, I’ve spent some time away from the comforts that quieten my soul.
Like the dog barking at the postie and the smile from my parcel delivery guy. I miss the toilet paper that’s invariably always sitting ‘on top ‘ of the holder instead of in it. I miss the digital radio in the bathroom, the one that blares out 80’s tunes as I shower and brush my teeth. I miss my water bottle, the smell of my husband, my favorite blanket that I curl up in while I watch the telly. I miss the banter of my boys. I miss my people.
Don’t get me wrong, I have loved everything about my Melbourne trip, well maybe not the arsehole cab driver who yelled at me today. Yelled at me, I felt hot tears forming behind my tired eyeballs but wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction. Instead I told him to sort out his attitude. Yeah dickhead, I did write down your ID! Ps, for transfers to and from the airport I call a car service and for a few extra bucks travel in luxury with no driver attitude or foul smells, I highly recommend it.
I’ve done some cool things while in Melbourne. I popped into Bupa to work on something exciting. I ran two workshops in the heart of the city hosted by Harlow Australia, presenting to seventy amazing women (yes, you are ALL amazing). I shopped till I dropped, like actually dropped! I met with Target, meh that didn’t go so well but did I really think it would?
I walked the streets of Melbourne and took in all the vibes, stopping to snap a photo or donate. Few coins. The streets of Melbourne are bustling and filled with eclectic types and soooo much smoke…smokers everywhere!
I caught up with a friend for dinner. Had a manicure and pedicure. I had a breakfast meeting with Adevee, learning all about a new plus size destination site, check them out HERE. I attended the end of year BUPA Bloggers Alumnae high tea at The Stables Of Como where there was so much yumminess on a plate, photo opportunities galore (hello bloggers paradise) and much chatter with beautiful bloggers and the team from Bupa.
I’ve been busy, productive and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Now I’m tapping away in an airport with heavy eyelids and aching to get home. Home really is where the heart is.
I hear you Jen, I have been travelling a lot for work recently. I miss my home comforts, my gorgeous husband, my 18 year old son who yes invariably leave the new roll off loo paper on top of the holder!!
I am currently in melbourne too, Perth last week and Perth again next week!
It’s amazing how much my comfy slippers, my furry babies and of cause the human ones too are what I most look forward to at the end of the day ?
Savour the home comforts wgen you can Katie x
What a big week you’ve had! Next time you should try Uber – the drivers are totes friendly, I much prefer them to taxis. That high tea looks the business – safe travels home lovely, you’re right, there’s no place like home. That’s because it’s where the heart is xx
I think that was my last straw for cabs, I tend to swing between uber and cabs but that will now change x
Time to rest up girl, you have been so busy, chill time needed. Sorry to hear the Target chat wasnt good, was hoping for better things from them!!
Have some down time with your family Jeni and welcome home ☺
Thanks Ann, looking forward to a few days of downtime x
