Does your house groan with washing like mine? Baskets of clean laundry stored in the second lounge, dirty clothes all over the floor of the teenage sons bedrooms? What the hell is with that? No really, why can’t the men of my home put their clothes away?
Oh I know….they don’t have a vagina! DOH! Why is it that it seems I’m the only one who knows where clothes belong in our house? Is it because I’m a woman or are the dudes smarter than I think? My rear lounge room is the room that houses a not so dirty secret…only problem being that if you were to pop in unannounced you would be privy to it as the room connects to the kitchen an outside area. At least 3, 5…ok maybe 6 days a week this room has some form of clean washing floating around. It used to drive be batshit crazy but these days feels less important, maybe because I really don’t care what others would think.
No matter how much I complain, threaten or bribe the dudes in my home they all still think that clothes belong on the floor and clean washing is best stored on the lounge rather than in their wardrobes.
It’s not like I didn’t teach them, I did my motherly thing and showed them how to fold towels and sheets, they even know how to roll socks. Heck I even taught them how to use the washing machine and iron, afternoons spent as 8 year olds ironing pillowcases and tea towels. Hilarious really as I don’t iron…ever!
To be fair my Mister irons his own clothes and will fold the mountains of washing, but transferring washing to the dressing table isn’t quite like hanging it in the wardrobe now is it?
Every day our washing machine whirs and beeps, every day the hills hoist (yeah we got one of those fancy lines) spins in the breeze loaded with clothes…but it’s all dude clothes! I hand wash mine or do one load a week and hang it in the shade on a clothes rack. So how is it that the dudes go through soooo many freakin clothes? If women have a reputation for owning too many clothes then why is that the dudes can have clothes on the line, in the machine, on the lounge, on the bedroom floor and STILL have clothes to wear?!
Hmmm I think we’ve been fed a line, unfairly tarred….we’ve had a bad rap. Women don’t have too many clothes…do we??
Tell me, what’s the laundry situation look like in your house?
The cleanest my house looks is 15 minutes before visitors arrive.
Ain’t that the truth Michelle…same!
Hahahah, love it. My washing is on the go now. Our folding pile sits on the table . So if you want to sit at the table for a meal – you have to put your clothes away 1st
Oh good tactic Shary!
I’m terrible at putting clothes away they never make it back to my wardrobe. 2015 is going to be my year for laundry.
You can do it Chantelle
lol.i so laughed at this blog..our washing machine goes every day and I iron almost every day..Believe me, it isn’t just males that have a floor full of clothes..oh my, you should see our daughter’s bedroom, an absolute disgrace, but I now shut the door on it, but every now and then, there are words between us about tidying the pigsty..lol She now has to do her own washing, except whites, as left to her, they would end up grey..lol..xx
I don’t dare enter my teenagers rooms…the smell alone puts me off LOL
Errr, not too bad. I wash and fold and my mum irons. Yes she is the best mum in the world and no she can’t adopt you
Ohhhh VERY lucky Magda x
When I was living at home with my parents, my bedroom was upstairs. My Mum would do my laundry (luck me!) and then she would place it on the bottom two stairs for me to put away. I can’t tell you how many times I would do the splits climbing over the clean pile of laundry just so I didn’t have to put it away!
Haha Sarah, good visual x
I try to do the bulk of our washing once a week,so I’m only a slave to the laundry once….and I am an ironer, but sometimes my Mum will take it for me❤
What a good mum. I’m looking forward to a time when I wash once a week x
