Mothers Day is not too far away and if you’re looking to spoil yourself or someone maternal in your life then I’ve done some hard yards in the change room for you all, let’s call it research that resulted in purchases š.
As you all know I was on the roadĀ all of thisĀ week on a charity ride and when I saw that Peter Alexander had released plus sized (extended sizing) pj’s I was like a dog with an itch, miles from no where and unable to hit the shops for a squizz. I returned home late yesterday and by 9am this morning was at my local Westfield ready to try on pj’s in the name of research.
My local Westfield is Marion in SA, if it’s yours pop into P.A.Ā and see Elle, I wanted to hi 5 her for her smile, easygoing but attentive service and for just being a bloody nice human. Way to go Elle.
Right let’s get onto the range, here it is…
The range looks kinda small right? Before we all throw our arms up and cry out that we need more and ‘why do all the skinny chicks get all the choice’? let’s remember (and thank) P.A. for rolling the dice and dipping his stylistic toe into the world of plus size sleepwear.
I am all for choice when it comes to plus size clothing for women, the more players the better for consumers. You can choose to shop where you like, spend within your budget, support whoever you like, this post is about shining the light on a new player and I’ve happily collated all the information and my own opinions into this post…for you.
I like nice sleepwear, just like I love nice underwear, because I’m worth it.
My body has been through so muchĀ change thanks toĀ cancer and surgeries so I like to ‘treat’ it. Because of this I have no problem paying a little extra for pretty bras and pyjamas, after all, I wear them every day and…I’m worth it.
So are you ā„
Let’s not forget I’ve had nine surgeries in three years and multiple hospital stays,Ā finding pj’s that fit well, are pretty and thatĀ make me feel ‘like me’ has been a freakin hard task.
I’ve often lamented the dismal choice and Nanna prints (sorry Nannas) and crappy fit, soĀ for Peter Alexander to give it a crack, well I’m excited!
The range has something from most of the regular store styles, you will findĀ lace, flannelette, knit, relaxed leg, straight leg, gowns, tanks,Ā tees…the list goes on. My guess is Peter Alexander will test the waters, listen to feedback and fingers crossed will extend the range next season.
So ladies, speak with your wallets and if you feel inclined send Peter Alexander an email with your thoughts on the new range, just remember to use your manners.
I think the last time I wore a nightie was 21 years ago after I gave birth to my first son, I have just always felt frumpy in nighties so have steered clear of them. Until now…
Uhuh, I actually purchased two nighties today. I know, who am I?
This Lacey number had me feeling like a foxy hornbag, the black lace back is so sexy and I am definitely packing it in the suitcase for our upcoming trip to Bali. You all know why….
The lace bustĀ has stretch AND support, I’m wearing size 1+ in all pieces however I did try the 2+ on in this nightie,Ā I have a wide back and wanted to compare the sizing…I bought the 1+.
One thing I don’t wear is flannelette because you know, menopause! I tried ladies, I started to try on these flannel pyjamas but had to get them off pronto….sooo hot!
I did however purchase this Tartan nightie (night shirt) which has a Ā flannelette back along with some flanneletteĀ panels alongĀ the arms,Ā it totally scored high on the ‘cute and comfy’ richter.
I also love the angled panels, they gave me some shape and I’m a massive fan of plaid and tartan š
Do you know what else IĀ loved? That thereĀ is a small pocketĀ and that it isn’tĀ mack bang over the boob, well done P.A.
If you prefer a full flannelette nightshirt then you might like this grey one, so cute with the soft pink ribbed cuffs and panels. Even though it was flannel I loved it, but my bank account told me to calm the fuck down! Why isn’t my bank account endless? š
There’s cute details like ribbon waist ties, ribbed cuffs, pockets and of course the always cute P.A. logo.
Not all pj’s have pockets in the pants, this Pretty in Peony set Ā didn’t, but it did haveĀ pocketsĀ on the top. We all love pockets š
It’sĀ a sweetĀ set but I feel overwhelmed by a ‘matchy matchy’ set and personally I much prefer mix and match pieces.
The classic long sleeve tee is a perfect fit and cut! I want it in all the colours but found it only in pink.
These Multi Roses relaxed pants are a great fit but even at 5ft7 too long for me, I could only wear them if I was also wearing my PA home boots.
If you’re shorter you may like these ‘Lattice Harem’ with an elastic cuff…
Or these flannelĀ leg warmer pants, I loved them but with my built in thermostat always on high they were too hot for me to wear to bed.
I would most likely wear them around the house as lounge wear.
There’s much to love about the new P.A. plus sleepwear range, I have to say I honestly thought they would be big, baggy and shapeless but he got it right. They are fun, great quality, fashionable and a great fit.
There’s a size guide on the website, in a nutshell 1+ equal to 16-18, 2+ equal to 20-22, 3+ equal to 24-26, simple. Rices range from $49-$109, don’t forget to take advantage of in store promotions.
Naturally not all styles will suit everyone but this is the same with regular sized clothes too. Choose the styles that suit you, fit well and make you feel amazing. We all like to feel amazing while we are lounging and sleeping right.
Feel free to ask me any questions. What is your favourite P.A. style?
Til next time,
Jen x
Looks fabulous. I threw out a lot of my old faithful pjs in our latest move and I’ve gone from a sz 12 to almost 16 with the latest meds, so it’s time to go shopping. Not sure I’m game to leave it in hubby’s hands though and hope for the best for Mother’s day. The last time he purchased me Pjs they were something like my late grandmother would have worn.
If I were you, I would have a try on sesh and give them some hints or maybe hint for a store voucher š
Oh I love PA stuff, I can’t sleep in anything else! You look hot (but not in the menopausal) way in that lacy nightie, oh you so foxy!
Haha Sammie, that is gold š
Thanks for this review Jen! I now know which ones to email my husband the link to buy ? They’re all so cute and it’s so nice to have the option! Great legs by the way!

You are most welcome Anita :-)I’m so pleased that Peter Alexander has taken the leap š
Kudos to you Jen for trying all these styles on ? Would you believe I have purchased many many items from PA for gifts but never for myself! Me thinks things have to change ?
Veronica you do need to change that
I have a voucher to spend up on at PA!! Can’t wait to get something warm and snuggly although that foxy nighty is definitely worth a look!!! Love it!! xx
Get both Jo ?
I am so glad that Peter Alexander extended the range to plus sizes as well, his pjs and nighties are beautiful and comfy and stylish for pjs imho.
You look gorgeous in all your picks Jen.Keep your eyes out for sales too they have great sales especially after Christmas and end of season ,good time to stock up…enjoy that nightie jen?
I’ve loved PA over the years too lisa, but had been sized out if them for a few years. The pieces I grabbed today were ace ?
Love this post… Love the nightie. I have never owned a pair of P A pyjamas I think having worked for Sussan for 7 years I always bought those especially with the good discount we got. I might have to splurge I think. Love pjs ?ā¤ļø
I like sussan too jane, although their sizing is quite small lately X
PA wooohooo and thanks for he review. I always bought PA as a size 20. I even used to get them sent to the uk 12 years ago and then all of a sudden nothing and only skinny sizes. so happy to see new range. Checking it out now š š
How exciting. I love the range at PA and didn’t realise they were now making plus sizes. I must drop into PA and check out the range. I usually get some good pj’s from Autograph. I don’t like anything too clingy and prefer a tshirt feel in top and bottoms
Mina the PA ones are roomy, not a huge range but there’s only 7 nights in a week ?
