Oh, hello there, my name is Jenni and I joyfully wear sequins during daylight hours. Have you tried it? You totally should!Today I rocked a sequin skirt while going about my daily business, I wore it to a meeting, a quick walk along the river, lunch and a nail appointment. I totally wore sequins in the burbs and loved it!
I’m a lover of Mondays because, new beginnings 🙂 Today though was feeling a little blergh and when I was getting dressed I couldnt’t decide on an outfit that would lift my mood AND make me feel amazing. Well, hello new season Periwinkle Sequin Skirt, all shiny and pretty waiting so patiently for an outing.
Did I even bat an eyelid about wearing a sequin skirt during the day? Aahhhh heck no! I mean, I’ve worn a tulle skirt to Foodland to do the weekly groceries. I wanted a tulle skirt for like, forever and wore that baby everywhere…because I can! So a sequin skirt on a Monday was totally doable.
Look at her…the colour is divine.
Side splits mean total comfort, even when sitting. They also give the skirt an edgier vibe.
The skirt has a lined slip so there’s no sequin chafe 🙂 I know you were all wondering 🙂
I chose to team my pretty periwinkle beauty with a white tee, white kicks and a denim jacket, because why not? I could have added more bling jewellery but chose to tone it down a little with a timber pendant, I like the juxtaposition of sequins and earthy timber.
A denim jacket (or chambray shirt) tied around my waist helps me to feel better on the days when my guts are protruding more than I would like. I can blouse my tee a little and hey presto, I’m feeling all casual sporty luxe, and more confident.
You might like to team the skirt with a pretty blouse like I did here. I’ve added tan heels and a new season Bohemian Traders Marrakech blouse, perfect for a lunch with the girls or a summer party. Ladies let’s not forget the silly season is now upon us and Christmas functions can put some extra pressure on the wardrobe (and the budget), so a versatile piece is a must.
You could even team the skirt with a chambray shirt, maybe a blouse and blazer or harden it up with some black leather.
It’s a fun skirt so have some fun with it, ok.
Oh, did I mention elastic waist? Uh huh, good right 🙂
Til next time

Thanks Jane, so nice bumping into you too. I hope you enjoyedyour day off x
What a versital skirt. Dress it up or down and it looks fab! Hope it helped to make you feel better. Lol
It’s a fun skirt Maggie and did the trick ☺
I love love this! Sequins in the burbs is one of my favourites ? You make this look cool Jenni
Thanks Karen it made me smile…and others x
Looking gorgeous as always. I ordered that denim jacket after our shopping day so now I will have that one and the orange one. Thanks for inspiring me to try.
I’m so glad you ordered the denim too, it’s such a lovely and light jacket to wear xxx
Nothing’s going to dull your sparkle in that skirt, it’s exquisite, especially with you in it!
Thanks Sammie, I felt sparkly all day xx
Love the blue of the sequins/skirt. And both tops look great – I like how you can dress the skirt up or down.
I tried on a black sequin off-the-shoulder top the other day, and now you’ve got me thinking! Thanks Jen
Looking really great. Jenny from the burbs can be Jenny from the Hood with the denim jacket. You look great, it lifts your spirits and I feel if you dress in a way thatt is bold it makes you feel strong and some days we need that. Some days I have to do a really good hair, top make up and clothes just a little bit higher than I need. It’s not about showing off in any way, it’s about giving me the courage to,walk through a door that intimidates me and then to look, someone in the eye as I walk in. That’s what clothes and make up do for me, it’s my mask , gives me courage to get through to the point I might enjoy myself, and it it doesn’t I can confidentially smile and leave as I arrived. Being well groomed and well dressed , it’s like a friend, holding my hand. Nothing wrong with a little extra encouragement .
Black OTS…sounds divine!!!
Helen if we look good, we feel good. It’s kinda like our armour ?
Awesome! Such a cheery outfit, I love it. Thanks for the inspiration, might just have to try this one myself.
Excellent skirt and sequin representation! Glad to hear there is a slip because the only hazard with sequins is chafe (and catching them in things). I love how you’ve dressed it down for the ‘burbs. Too cool for school.
Love this! You are rocking those sequins. Great styling tips as always (love the sports luxe look) I think I need to add a sequin skirt to my ‘must have’ list x
It’s a lot of fun Kirsten 🙂
Gorgeous skirt Jenni, love the casual styling interpretation well done!!
