Some days we all just need a little extra support, am I right? Not all cossies are created equal and when you need one with a little more control you need to know where to look, which is why I’ve listed seven of my top cossies to fit and flatter. While I’m in the helping mood here’s some other tips and things to look for when purchasing a cossie.
+the wedgie test…if the cossie is happier in your crack then you need to try another size or maybe even try another style. Try sitting and jumping in the change room (or at home) and see what happens. Remember if you are planning on heading into the surf or climbing onto a paddle board then you need your cossie to stay put!
+ The cut…swimwear is often cut differently to regular clothing so there’s no shame in sizing up…in fact I recommend it. A larger size will often keep you bulge free and camel toe free, something we all should be aiming for 🙂
+ Panelling…shapewear technology has now made its way into swimwear which is fantastic! Obviously you don’t want your cossies to feel like you’ve been laced into a corset but a little extra support is always welcome. Panelling across the stomach or back will help subtract size and keep bulges smoother. Look for power mesh or technology in the fabric.
+ The extras…An adjustable strap will give you a custom fit. Not only will you be able to lift your bust but you can also let the straps down, which is particularly handy if you are tall. Again, no one wants a camel toe.
+ Choice…if your shape is irregular then look for a two piece that allows you to size separately. If a bikini isn’t your thing then look for a beautiful tankini.

Thanks Anne, I haven’t seen or tried it.
Hi Jen, Thanks for another wonderful post. Can I just make a suggestion for the labels/website stores; When I am looking for bathers online I always like to see a photo of the back of the bathers. I want to see is it a high or low cut back, is there a closure at the back of the bust line, if so is tie up or clasp? How is the cut at the back of the legs, high, low or boycut-ish?… All things matter as to how they are going to suit my shape. Regards, Nat
Oh, I agree. It’s a bit annoying when you can’t see all the details.
Just in time for me to upgrade my cossie. I’ll be considering all those tips when in the change room!
Happy shopping…and swimming 🙂
