Summer calls for getting your legs out…in shorts! Oh don’t all cringe, with a little bit of a fake tan and the right length all ladies can wear shorts…but I bet you are all wondering what to wear ‘up top’. Yeah, summer shorts need summer tops.
Sure, you could go for the tried and tested ‘tee’ but how about we amp up your style a little with something a little more fancy? Hey, let’s remember that shorts aren’t just for the gym or gardening, wear them with a little flair and you can be looking chic and feeling cool over the warmer months.
A few stylish summer tops teamed with shorts and sandals will carry you through the warmer months and stylishly take you places, like lunch with friends, an afternoon BBQ or shopping in the city, sounds like fun!
Ladies it’s all in the details, choose summer tops in a print or a plain (but fun) colour and look for added style features like zips, pleats, pockets and buttons. Keep an eye out for tops that can be worn multiple ways, like an OTS (off the shoulder) top that can just as easily be worn ‘up’.
Tops come in different lengths, which is just as well because we all come in different shapes and sizes. Choose a longer length if you are taller or curvier. A longer length will give you some extra fabric to ‘tuck, tie or twist’ allowing you to personalise your look. If you are more on the petite side you might like to stick to the shorter style tops or you can choose to wear the ‘longer style tops’ as a dress or beach cover-up. Nifty!
If OTS is a bit too much for you then you might like to try ‘cold shoulder’, a little pop of skin while the wings are still covered. You could even try the versatile ‘Feminine’ top from Kennedy’s, a shirred v neck that can be worn OTS or on the shoulder, it’s available in prints or block colour.
When wearing shorts stick with navy or black and they will easily take you from day to night. Once you are comfortable baring your pins then add lighter colours to your collection of shorts. Team your shorts with some flat sandals for a smart casual look; you can never go wrong with a tan sandal. Ever. If you like something a little more sporty, then check out the NAT from Frankie4 (I have the cream) or some even sportier ADIDAS kicks.
For a more dressed up look add a wedge or block heel, they will instantly give your legs length and shape, and they are just a little bit sexy too, winning! In summer a tan shoe works for day or night or you could try adding a metallic shoe for some extra ‘summer sizzle’.
You all know I’m a massive fan of the label ‘Kennedy’s’, they get that women over 40 (and of course under 40) still want to look fashionable while wearing affordable clothes that actually fit. Yes the team have listened to feedback, designed fab products and in exciting news they have recently launched an online store. In the past you could pop into their Sydney boutiques inGordon. Forestville and Oatley, place a phone order or even message them on Facebook to order.
Ladies your enthusiasm for the Kennedys product and need for an online store was heard (YAY) and now you can shop day or night…from anywhere. Of course if you have product questions feel free to message the team, they would love to hear from you.
