Remember that dress I picked up in Melbourne at Sussan…from the maternity section? Here’s a little reminder.
I’m making this beauty work hard already, that’s the beauty of a tunic style dress…it’s versatile!
I am totally digging my leather hi tops from Jo Mercer and having fun teaming them with everyday pieces to give them a different vibe. Here I’m teaming them with my tunic dress picking up the white in the dress and embracing the monochromatic.
Adding a stretch belt allows me to change the length of the dress exposing more leg to compensate for my boots covering my ankle. I chose a belt with a textured pattern similar to the one in my dress but with neutral lighter tones for a little contrast. The belt also mimics the colours in my necklace tying it all together. Adding the belt means I can blouse the dress a little allowing for some smoke n mirror action….camouflaging my belly rolls to give me some confidence.
It’s got a sporty 80’s vibe which I’m digging but I have to embrace my look and ‘own’ it to carry it off…who cares if I’m in my 40’s reliving the 80’s LOL. Are you embracing any trends from the past?
Til next time,
Jen x
Ooh love this look Jen, you look great. What size in the dress are you wearing? I too have belly rolls so I think this would work for me! Any tips on where to buy stretch belts for a size 18? I love wearing high top sneakers too, I have a pair of cons that i have laced loosely and pull the tongue to the side creating a longer leg line which works for me x
Thanks Jodie, the dress is a large but I could have sized down,(I’m a 16-18) check out city chic or TS14+ for belts…or op shops!
you are rocking that outfit jen!
I love your hair too! … I’m a short haired girl!
cheers! m:)X
Thanks Merilyn, I love short hair too x
