Wearing a long kaftan can be tricky depending on your size and height. The full length can swamp my frame but I’ve been playing with this one sent to me by the team from Sequins and Sand.
This Mosaic silk kaftan feels soft and light but the rich tones and stunning blues in the print give it a ‘wow factor’. A kaftan is perfect poolside to pop on over your cossie…cue cocktails and handsome waiter. Then when you’re ready to head out for a lazy lunch or dinner just add wedges, a belt and some statement jewellery, a bold coloured clutch or handbag helps too.
The neckline is a little wide for me as I have a fairly small bust so I’ve layered the kaftan over a slip dress for coverage, I can also change the neckline to suit me by adding necklaces. I’ve created a narrower ‘V’ with the longer necklaces and drawn the neckline ‘up’ with the choker neckpiece. I love the border trim of stunning peacock blue and then there’s the batwing sleeves. A batwing does wonderful things for a larger bust, round tummy and larger arms. You can view this kaftan on a fuller busted model HERE.
It’s all in the print and kaleidoscope of colour, that’s where this dress works hard and all you need to do is knot it, belt it, add jewels and shoes.
I had fun knotting the kaftan at different lengths and adding a belt, both easy ways to create different looks. I like to tie this one on the hip to give great drape and allow me to stride out. Tying at the hemline will shorten my stride and I don’t want to tear this gorgeous silk kaftan.
This kaftan dress is the perfect travel companion, it packs down to nothing, loves a cold hand wash and will dry in a flash. You can style it over and over and layer it with a wrap or even add footless tights and a long sleeve tee for a trans seasonal look. A truly versatile travel piece.
I think I’m going to try wearing this one in the cooler months, after all the more work our clothes do for us the better, and I’m sure a pop of colour on a winters day will be just perfect.
How about you, have you tried a longer maxi kaftan like this one?
Are you planning a winter getaway to somewhere warm with golden sand? Go on…tell me.
Til next time,

I think it looks lovely on you pool or beachside as is! I also have a few strings belt ties bit like drawstrings in various colors I use to give myself a bit of a waist or hipline when I don’t want it too defined but need a bit of shape and recently spotted a kimono belt tie which is looking promising!
Very handy Chrissy, I have a few but I’m always on the lookout for more x
