Oh Mother Nature, what’s going on? Where is the sunshine? What’s with this rain, wind and hail? I am desperate to feel sun on my skin and get into some gorgeous threads but instead my summer style crush has been shelved. For the moment.
This is the time of year when I’m normally pounding the pavement, smelling the blossoms as they come out of winter hibernation and when I’m dreaming of salty lips from swimming in the ocean. Ohhh, take me to the ocean 🙂
Instead of my normal summer style I’m actually wearing ugg boots and the central heating is running (dreading that bill), there’s hail pounding on our windows and this morning my front yard was flooded. Mother Nature is either confused or pissed! My money is on both!
I’m heading to Queensland in a few weeks to run some style and body confidence workshops, which means ‘off with the uggboots’ and time to tan up and play with summer layers. Hooray!
I’ve got a cupboard full of summer threads that I’m itching to wear and so many summer styles are floating my boat this season too. Here’s a few styles I’ll be packing in my suitcase when I head North…
This season I’m diggin the OTS look, tops or dresses I’m not fussy I just love getting my bare shoulders out. Oh, OTS is short for ‘off the shoulder’?
I’m also head over heels in love with embroidery, it’s everywhere and the inner boho in me can not get enough! Have you dipped your toe into summer embroidery yet?
I am having a total love affair with lace this spring and I know it will continue over summer. It’s pretty, breezy and timeless. Have you embraced lace?
I’m on the hunt for shorts because the ones that have served me for the last three summers are looking tired. Have you got any tips on where to go shopping for shorts, I’d love to know? No pic because I have no shorts 🙂
I’ve been a fan of a ‘cold shoulder’ for a few years now and with good reason. It’s cool on a warm day, covers up the bingo wings while exposing a sexy shoulder and they are flattering! I need more of the cold shoulder I say.
I’m definitely going to be swanning about in silk kaftans, sounds swish right? Well with The Swankstore you get less wank and more swank, you also get more bang for your dollar with most kaftans priced under $200…good right!
Silk kaftans and maxis are a solid part of my summer style, they are light to wear but boy do they pack big impact in the style stakes, and they can also be worn several ways. You can check out all my style tips for kaftans and silk HERE.
Oh, and because I’m an ambassador for The Swankstore I’ve got a $250 voucher to giveaway. Yes, you could be wearing some sweet silk faster than you can say ‘mojito please’. To enter head to the Swankstore website and choose the kaftan you would like to swanning about in, then let me know in the comments. Easy peasy?
I can’t wait for the ocean to be warm enough to swim in, yes I’m lookin’ at you Mother Nature! If getting in a cossie makes you break out in a cold sweat then arm yourself with an awesome cossie and beach dress, some rad sunnies and hit the beach in style. Life is happening ‘right now’, so get in the cossie and embrace it. You can check out some cossies over on Sequins and Sand, with sizes up to a 26 and up to a G cup I give them a big thumbs up.
Queensland, ‘sunny one day, perfect the next’, sheesh I sure hope so. See you soon sunny Queensland.
What’s your summer style crush?
Are you coming to my workshops? Grab some friends or come on your own and let’s share some cake and bubbles?
