Hi there it’s Saturday time to take a look back on the week that was here at Styling Curvy. Sunday I took a trip to Brighton with my mister. We walked, talked and had coffee and cake. Oh and he lost his wallet, uhuh we turned the house upside down and rang the cafe and anyone else we could think of.
On Tuesday my mister cancelled all his cards and wouldn’t you know it 20 minutes later the cafe phoned to say they had found his wallet…isn’t it always that always the way! You can read about our trip to Brighton and see some pics here.
Monday started with a trip to the dentist to have a wisdom tooth removed. Now let’s get something straight…I absolutely loathe going to the dentist!
I have anxiety about sitting in the chair which stems back to a sweaty middle aged dentist climbing on top of me while trying to extract a tooth when I was 21. Gross, wrong and the end result is I don’t like going to the dentist!
My dentist is a woman so she gets points for that, she’s funny,..more points and she’s good at what she does. BUT, when her nurse fainted not once but twice while I had a mouth full of equipment lets just say my anxiety levels elevated. I know…TWICE!
I can see the humour in it and feel for the girl I really do but OMG!! I headed home with chipmunk cheeks and a few scripts, the swelling is going down but some nerves aren’t very happy…ouch! After all that if you want a dose of health you can read my post on my trip back to wellness here, although I think most of you already have, it went off the richter the night I put it up with it being my most read blog post ever!
After my trip to the dentist I spent the next day at home resting and getting some work done then look what arrived! Yeah the delightful Miss Leonie Dawson sprinkled her kindness and sent me her ‘Life and Biz workbooks’ with a sweet card and a few little gifts. Ummm thanks Leonie, what an awesome thing to do and it came just at the right time when I was stuck at home making biz plans. Leonie is an artist and business coach and super successful, you can check out Leonie’s site here.
It was a week for medical appointments with two visits to the dentist, a blood test and a visit to my chemo oncologist. It was a check up that went super well, we chatted about future surgery, the latest conference he attended, my treatment plan and then he said “Well Jen, let’s see you in 6 months“. Woohoo I wanted to hi 5 him but instead I said thanks and skipped outa there.
You guys were crazy supportive celebrating with me which felt like a huge squeezy hug. Seeing all your messages was good for this girl….thank you.
Oh speaking of cheerleaders I wrote a post about all my special cheerleaders and how their support got us through treatment, you can read it here.
I left his office bursting with joy and wanted to celebrate (the mister gave me roses) so took myself shopping and bought a new lipstick from MAC (peach blossom) and picked up some fab bargains.
If you need to add some essentials to your wardrobe in preparation for winter NOW is the time ladies, the sales are crazy. I picked up this black drape skirt from Piper at Myer for $21 and this silver drape dress and white sport luxe cardi from Sussan both under $60! I’ve been eyeing of this dress and plan to layer it all different ways and the cardi will look great paired back with my hi tops and several other pieces.
I’m still on the lookout for jeans and some winter white dress pants but I’ve made a good start on updating my winter wardrobe.
Remember how I nearly missed a coffee date with a friend last week? Well yesterday I was meeting up with another friend and she missed our date by a week LOL. I wasn’t bothered, instead I took a stroll through Henley Square and down the jetty before heading home to do some work on something special for the blog. I just love the colours of the seaside from weathered grey boards on the jetty to stormy green waves and bold brights on the surf club.
The Tour Down Under is currently in full swing here in SA and there are bikes and people EVERYWHERE, it’s very cool!
I made a roast chicken this week, well I do one every week but this week I a took a photo, oh and my recipe for lemonade scones is on the blog you can find it here.
Tomorrow I will have my recipe for vanilla slice (cheats version) on the blog. Who likes vanilla slice? My mister is a total lover of anything custard so he will be a very happy man! What can I say, I aim to please 🙂
Anyway that’s a wrap for another week. What’s your plans for Australia Day? Are you headed to the beach or a park or do you celebrate at home? Let me know.

Oh that’s fabulous Merilyn!! I’m excited to start doing newsletters, give me a week or two to organise one. The weather is craaaazy…who stole summer and invited winter to the party? It’s like 4 seasons in one day lately, enjoy your weekend x
What a busy but brilliant week. So stoked about your good doctor news – there’s no better feeling. Hope you have an oz-some Australia day and a lovely long weekend xx
The BEST sammie! Enjoy your long weekend Hun x
Wonderful news Jen! Sounds like you have had a busy week, I hate the dentist too. Australia Day for me will be quiet this year, probably a barbie lunch at home, just with my OH. I must take a look at winter clothing, I am still in summer mode because it’s so stinking hot up here. Love Sussan though, have been a customer since my teens. Means they have been in business for a looong time lol! Kathryn x
Enjoy your weekend Kathryn x
