Ladies I tried a wrap dress and I liked it…alot!I love a dress but I know not everyone does. When it comes to choosing a dress we are spoiled for choice, but sometimes that’s the problem right. I mean, which dress is for you? Should you try a maxi, wrap, tube, shift, pinup, knit or maybe a fit n flare?
I bet you’re wondering which style suits your shape. And then there’s occasion. Can you wear it to the office AND cocktails? Will you get good dollar per wear?
Tada…the wrap dress has got you covered ladies, literally. A wrap dress is a timeless, classic piece of clothing that you absolutely do want in your wardrobe, buy the right one and you’ll have it for years. You’ll also be able to trot it again and again to all kinds of events.
Why? Well, the wrap dress gives you a waist. That’s right, it crosses under the bustline (the smallest part of your trunk) instantly giving you a waist AND it makes a gal look 5 pounds lighter.
Uh huh, I wore mine today and two people comment how ‘slimming’ my outfit was. Let’s not get all up in arms about the words ‘slimming’ or ‘flattering’, I’m cool with them and this dress does both beautifully.
Depending on how you tie your dress you can show as little or as much cleavage as you like. Keep it a little more conservative for the office or add some racey lingerie and let a little peek out. Phooaar!
A wrap dress also has you covered throughout pregnancy, weight loss or even if you have too many puddings over winter.
I’m wearing the Harlow ‘Light my Fire’ wrap dress, this little beauty has the wow factor ladies. Long sleeves, hi lo hem, pleated waist detailing (perfect for camouflaging paunch) and its black, so it’s very versatile.
Look, I wore it with a poncho for day time wear.
A pop of colour, a body lengthening tassel necklace, some knockout shoes and I could lunch with ladies or hit up the supermarket. I did the latter.
Do you like my earrings? They’re a recent purchase from Deux Earrings, a local talent.
If you wanted to switch it up a little for dinner, movies or drinks add a leather jacket (or faux leather in my case). I’ve kept the shoes, removed one necklace and kept it simple with this UBERKATE pendant that I wear daily.
Now that winter is here (tomorrow) you could even add tights and long boots, or if it’s a little warmer stick with bare legs and ankle boots. Heck, throw on a denim jacket or a wrap, add a scarf or a bold statement necklace, tailor this classic beauty to ‘you and your lifestyle’.
Once you own a quality black wrap dress you will be set for the big occasions like weddings and funerals, you know, the ones where you always spend waaay too much time wondering what to wear. Wonder no more.
You can style a wrap dress to look conservative or tweak it to be more ‘Va Va Voom, you choose.
Do you own a wrap dress?
Til next time,
Jen X
This wrap dress was sent to me for my editorial consideration in line with my Disclosure Policy.

Thanks Maggie, it’s been years since I’ve had a good wrap dress so I’m delighted to have this Harlow one 🙂
oh yes, I love wrap dresses..and love the two different styles you have shown here Jennxx
Thanks Ann, I have a few more outings planned for this sweet dress so stay tuned for some more looks xx
I wore a wrap dress for date night last Saturday! Such a feminine style and I felt so good all night!! I love how you wear tops over dresses, I’ve started doing this with tube dresses, and it’s a opened up whole new wardrobe options. xx
Yay to ‘feeling’ good Heidi, if you feel good them you look good? Layering is the business, it’s the best way to extend your wardrobe, I’m so pleased you are experimenting X
I love wrap dresses, and own a purple ‘faux wrap style’from Esprit and a black and white print from Target. Both are at least a couple of years old. Necklaces, scarves and boots or colourful shoes change the whole look of them dramatically. Dresses are actually EASIER to wear than coordinating tops and skirts sometimes. A dress just looks smart and ‘finished’ somehow. That black wrap dress is a stunner. You look terrific in it.
A dress is a one piece wonder Jeanette. If you have a good base you can change up the look over and over with accessories and layering pieces. Sounds like your two buys have served you well, great work.
Jen I want those lovely pink booties- where did you find them. Thanks
Anne they are from Wittner. The link is in the blog post lovely. It’s hyperlinked over the word boots. Just click and it will take you straight to them X
