Sometimes when you hang onto an item of clothing you can start a whole new love affair with it.This is the case with this tube skirt from Virtu that I’ve had for 3 years. I actually loved it so much back then that I bought it in 2 sizes because I was going sugar free and was dropping weight.
The weight loss took off in the other direction with cancer treatment and steroids a part of my life so this skirt has sat biding it’s time in my drawer…until now.
I was in the office today and sitting at a desk requires a level comfort so a stretch skirt like this one is perfect. It’s long enough to be ladylike and the stripes and block colour are a definite feature.
This skirt works hard, it’s loaded with great smoke n mirror details from the length, high contrast colour, size of the stripes and that gorgeous berry pink.
I paired the skirt with another wardrobe favourite, a blouse from Target that has a rear zip detail, curved hem and sheer panel featured in the sleeves.
Some black pony hair ankle boots team just right with the length of the skirt and a statement necklace to finish off.
I tend to buy my statement necklaces from smaller boutiques and have quite a collection. Don’t be scared to try on a statement necklace and start collecting as they are perfect for adding oomph to an outfit, changing necklines or taking a simple outfit from day to night.
For a casual look add a tee, denim jacket and some sports loafers like these Wittner ones or find similar (not leather) on Ezibuy.
If you haven’t picked up a tube skirt for the cooler months to come start looking now. I favour stores like Sussan for these skirts (always scour the sale rack) and Harlow (online) are known for a great stretch skirt or check out Ezibuy as they have a few at the moment. Start with black, then add a grey one and then one in a colour or print.
A little tip when buying a stretch skirt, go firmer. They give and can look a little flared at the bottom if you go too loose. Look for thicker fabrics too like ponte as flimsy fabric will show all the dimples ‘n bumps. Team them with shape wear if you’re worried about muffin tops and always wear a looser top that skims. You can create shape with a jacket, a vest or jewellery and let’s not forget how flattering a curved hemline can be.
Today the girls from the office invited me to tag along to a lunch meeting with clients, and don’t you just love it when clients shout lunch 🙂 I’m enjoying this work balance of one day a week volunteering in the office, it’s awesome to get amongst people and bounce ideas.
