Layering a maxi in the cooler months? Say whaaaat! You all know I like my clothes to work hard and that means being able to wear them throughout all 4 seasons. When Anita from ‘Sequins And Sand’ sent me this jersey maxi dress* to road test my first thought was ‘shapeless’ and then I fist pumped because that meant I could get creative and style this dress perfectly for my own body and my personality.
This dress is from Elder and Berk and is available up to a size 26, I’m wearing the XS and I gotta say it’s very generous! Worn ‘as is’ the neckline is a bit deep on me and it’s a bit baggy but just by adding a simple tie belt, a 3/4 sleeve body con tee and a pop of colour with a pendant I. Already feeling happier! Personally I need a heel with a fuller dress so I popped on some strappy wedges to give me some lift.
By adding a knot on one corner of the hem I’ve created another shape and I’m feeling more in love with this dress because…drape! I love some soft drape and so do my curves!
Adding a cape for some contrast lifts this dress again…so many looks from one dress and I’ve only just scratched the surface. I was gifted this cape a few months ago from Threeparsons, it’s sold out but they have their new A/W range online.
This dress is the perfect travel piece, soft Jersey with bat wings gives me plenty of options. Team it with long boots and tights or add an ankle boot. Pull it up and do a from tuck into jeggings letting the back fall free and add ballet flats. Cover up with a cape and layer up underneath using your favourite pops of colours. Remember when I wore it to the markets recently? A bright scarf, sneaker boots and a denim jacket were the perfect additions.
Til next time,
Jen x

Looking gorgeous Jenni, I’ve never been one to pull off a maxi dress, I’m just too short but I’m hoping to case Dannii Minogue’s next collection for Target petites and challenge myself to get into one this summer.
Oh that’s exciting! I find adding a wedge and tying the hem works a treat if you are vertically challenged
Quite inspirational, and it looks great love the way in which you have put it all together. Love that white Cape.everyday Jen you are looking better and better.
Thanks Maggie, this Cape is so beautiful, I love the detail x
Looks Great Jen, you certainley have the knack on how to put things together.
I wish i could do half what you do, my wardrobes full ( of course ) but unless i see how people put things together i am lost in a world of colour & texture
Oh thanks Sharyn, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by a full wardrobe, sounds like you might need an edit x
