Week two of wellness Wednesday and I’m kicking goals…I’m also stumbling. As we all know wellness is about more than what we put in our mouths, it’s holistic and for a few days there I forgot that.
We’re all cool now though. My husband told me to eat some chocolate and stop with my hangry moodiness…uhuh, total bitch! It’s been hilarious because I don’t get hormonal moods but going cold turkey off all sugar, carbs, grains EVERYTHING has seen a female force stronger than any freakin hurricane you can imagine sweep through my household and the males that reside here are scared!
I ate some chocolate, had a cuppa and reassessed. There was something greater going on within that was messing with me and it wasn’t just the wind that escaped at Pilates this week. YES, I totally farted at Pilates, not a pip squeak but a full force fart. Mortified. I giggled and clenched my but cheeks for fear that another might escape, it didn’t and I survived. Thank goodness the instructor and other peeps in the class pretended nothing happened, I’m sure they will all remember me as ‘the new girl who farted’ but meh, whatever.
Getting back to what was going on within…’purpose’. I’ve been out of kilter and it has nothing to do with ‘Mercury in retrograde’ (this time), it’s about purpose. I wear many hats…wife, mum, friend, stylist, blogger, mentor, volunteer, PHEW! Sometimes I feel like I’m chasing my tail. Don’t get me wrong, I love my freakin awesome life and am grateful for every single day…and breath, but sometimes I wonder how to pull it all together into a nice cohesive smooth running slice of heaven.
Well all the planets seem to be aligning and all my passions have come together…fusion baby! I’ve found ‘purpose’ and a new business partner! I’m keeping it a bit hush and secretive which would totally shit me if I was reading this so I apologise but all will be revealed soon, we just wanna be ready…you understand that right?
My point is, I love blogging and Styling Curvy (oh and it’s not going anywhere) and now my new biz. It’s all about creating a life I love, developing myself, embracing the bigger picture. It’s about silencing the ‘noise’ and focusing on what really fulfils me. I’ve been taking stock, letting go of expectation and building the life I want to live…not waiting for it to just ‘happen’.
I’ve also been changing a few other things…
I’ve been soaking up the sunshine. How good does the sun feel as it soaks into your shoulders? Even better if there’s an ocean view and a long black clutched in my pudgy cold hands. Try it!
I swapped showers for baths…well one bath. Give me a break, it’s freakin cold here in the South! I forgot how much I loved baths and how much they allow me to just relax and get lost in my daydreams. Add some bath oils for extra winter-time skin nourishment. Yeah right!…no pics of me in the bath but here’s one of my fabulous cleavage in my *new bra Thanks City Chic and Doctor Richard 🙂
I’ve been focusing on my breathing. I know it might sound a bit ‘woo woo’ but I use breath techniques a lot in yoga and Pilates, then I go about my daily life and tend to forget about it. So, I’m making a conscious effort to breathe deeper, and exhale longer…feels gooood! For the record I’m totally digging Pilates and I’m also crushing on the tank and tights that Shop Elsa sent me. These tights are EVERYTHING…soft, no digging in to my guts and cute to boot! 🙂
I’ve upped the water intake! My bladder is in shock and the tiles in the toilet are cold on my feet because it’s cold here in the South…nuff said!
What about you, what have you been doing differently this week? Have you been doing anything? I hope you have, don’t wait for a good life to just ‘happen’, you know it’s up to you right? Be the change baby, be the change.
Til next time,
Jen x

Hi Jen, is the photo Grange or Henley Beach by any chance? I walked Glenelg to Somerton and back this afternoon, as I was in the vicinity. This week I have been doing extra walking, in between my regular exercise gigs of Kettlworx classes and CXworx. (so far every day) Great for tired muscles and thinking time. I have not been buying lollies (my weakness) these last two weeks, to save my waistline and my purse.
This pic is semaphore, the glenelg to summertime walk is gorgeous Jeanette and the weather today was sublime!no lollies…tough one but I bet you feel better for it. Great work, you’re kicking goals x
Good on you Jen! Must drink more water! x
So hard to do Erin in the cold weather…I struggle with it x
I love pilates and yoga too! I think the focus on breadth and coordination required forces your to concentrate on the specific movements and cut-out real-life! Great way to clear your head and exercise! Love the leopard by the way 😀
excuse my spelling!
It’s an awesome way to go inward and be present in the moment, I love it too
