I’ve been living the dream the last few months and by ‘dream’ I mean I’ve been indulging in every carb and comfort food under the sun. It’s time for change so join me for ‘Wellness Wednesday’.
What is ‘Wellness Wednesday’? Well I want it to be a day where we can all join in to support and encourage each other on our path to doing better with our health. It’s winter and my motivation wanes in winter, it might have something to do with the carb coma I find myself in after tucking into cake and cobblers. So I need support and I figured if I did then maybe you do too…am I right?
We can hug it out together. Share your wins, your struggles, your tips and more. Let’s do this for the next six weeks and see how we go hey.
Personally I’ve stacked on 5ish kilos, I knew my clothes were tighter and my arse was lumpy but I did get a jolt when I got on the scales. The real motivation though was I just wasn’t feeling great, I had no spring in my step so I knew it was time to reign it in and step away from the pantry.
I’m back on my elimination plan which means no sugar which means I’m a major pain to be around the last few days. Sheesh, this headache is pounding but I keep telling myself that in a few more days I’m gonna feel great. I will!
Another thing I did this week was start Pilates! Yes I’m now doing Pilates on a Monday and yoga on a Tuesday, it’s something I’ve wanted to do for ages but the cost put me off. My new massage girl is an occupational therapist and wouldn’t you know…a Pilates instructor. She’s teaching out of the same studio that I started doing yoga in so I saw it as ‘a sign’. Sure it’s costing me a few extra dollars each week but I figure if I stop eating out as much and ditch the cake at the café, then I won’t feel the dent in my budget. Instead what I will feel is stronger and healthier…good payoff I think.
While I’m in a sharing kinda mood here’s where you can find my Pilates , my instructor is Sarah. You can find more information about my yoga teacher HERE, here name is Dani and I freakin adore her 🙂
WORDS OF WISDOM…this week be aware of what you say about your weight/body and who is listening. “I’m so fat”…’If only I could lose Xkg’…”I hate my body”….please remember that your body hears this which is bad enough but don’t let your loved ones hear you talk like this. Not only do they love you, but you don’t want to project your fears and insecurities onto them…do you? Speak kind and loving words about your body.
Ok. There’s my little wins for this week, now it’s over to you. What are you wanting to change? Maybe you have a tip on how to drink more water or a recipe you’d like to share. Jump on board and share here on the blog in the comments section below or on the ‘Styling Curvy’ Facebook page. I’ll pop up a post and you can your comment…that way we can encourage everyone and share our tips with everyone.
Can’t wait to hear from you all!
Til next time,
Jen x
What a great idea! I got back on the Weight Watchers wagon a few weeks ago. I’m just doing it online and tracking what I eat, it’s keeping me accountable and if I step away from the fridge for a minute, I might even lose some weight! I’m going to visit my mum in the UK next week, but I’m joining her local gym to keep moving and motivated! Looking forward to hearing more about your pilates – I’ve heard such good things about it, but I’ve never tried.
Sammie well done for doing WW online, that takes discipline. I also love that you are booked into a gym while you are away in the UK…dedication and clever. Holidays are when it’s too easy to drop the ball, I’ll take inspiration from that and remember to book into some yoga when I head Queensland in August
Thanks for the shout out Jenni!
You have made such great in roads with your health and the light is strong in you grasshopper lol!
Consistent persistence and getting back on the mat or the healthy eating when you fall off is the key.
Im going to improve my water intake. I have fallen off the wagon during winter and have really noticed how stagnant I feel when I’m not flushing my body with water.
See you on the mat soon!
xx Dani
That’s a good one that I struggle with too Dani. I’m setting an alarm on my phone every hour to remind me to slug a glass of water down
good on you jen!
I’m disciplined with my food but it’s easier in summer to eat fresh salads and protein!
winter is a bit of a challenge because I want something warm!
we are having chicken and vegetable soup I put some yoghurt into it to serve and crumble fetta on top!
i try not to have bread as i get the bloat!
my daughter lost a lot of weight with the aitkin/paleo diet and kept it off… low carbs is there thing i think!
i do low carbs!
she does zumba and pilates/yoga!?
holidays are a challenge we are heading up there too! she has aldi just around the corner! oh dear! they have good chocolate!;
all good! love m:)X
You do very well! Bravo to your daughter too for finding something that works for her…enjoy your holiday and maybe indulge a little
Good on you Jenni ,I’m very disciplined with food as I’ve had a very complicated knee replacement so I cannot gain weight and I’m naturally petite so I’m no saint I still have a treat now and then but not everyday.
I started a 30 green smoothie challenge with a few girls from Instagram and went to the Dr about my migraines so I’ve crossed a few things of my wellness this week xx
You’re doing great Lisa! 30 green smoothies sounds yum, I need to start some smoothie action again
sounds like you’re getting back on track Jenni! I started getting my act together 2.5 weeks ago, when I stopped drinking and feeling so much better (I’ve lost 5 cm off my tummy – my problem area). I am trying very hard not to carb load, but its just so bloody cold and I just want to eat all the time. I’m trying to drink a truck load of water and some green jasmine tea is helping keep my fluids up. Next is to get moving, I’m going to try some online yoga (just got to get motivated to get my butt off the couch!) xx
Wow that’s great results Jodie! I’ve started drinking more green tea, I love it and it keeps me warm in this winter weather. I hope you love yoga as much as I do
My plan is to drink lots more water..in summer im so good but not so good in Winter. Im trying to eat healthy too as Summer my goal is to wear some new bathers and be tanned thanks to spray tan. Keep up the good work Jen. We are all out for each other xo
Woohoo jane, I love new bathers! You will love yourself this summer x
One of the lovely grandparents in my class gave me the most beautiful smelling cellulite oil. Being a very spiritual aboriginal lady she shared with me her best tip. “When you apply it you must say out loud that you love your body. We live what we hear.” It’s the best advice I’ve ever had. I need to start saying it louder & prouder.
Absolutely Bec, when I moisturise I always give thanks to my body for what it ‘can do’
Fantastic idea Jenni! I tend to put on a nice winter blanket and spend all of summer trying to loose it. I’ve started to cut back on the chocolate I eat and slowly incorporate more green veg in my meals.
Green veg are key, I eat loads in summer and then winter becomes all about root veg.
I want to move more! Everyday for the rest of the school holidays! x
You got this!
I need to move more. Need to sleep more and need to drink more water. That is my goal this week! x
Me too Barbe! I think I might try to get a walk or two in…good luck x
