Guys, I did something only the cool young ones do. I went and got lash extensions! I know, who am I even? Turns out it’s not just the club hopping, contour loving young ones who get lash extensions…even mummas from the burbs do it. In fact women EVERYWHERE are doing it and have been for years (I’m sooo beihnd the times).
I wanted lash extensions for my Bali trip, which by the way is Monday! Only four more sleeps and I’ll be sucking on a bintang, bartering with the best of them and praying to ALL the gods that Bali belly stays the fuck away!
I figure a holiday in high humidity where I can’t wear makeup called for lash extensions. My last Bali holiday I looked like a sweaty mess, so this time I’m going armed with lashes and bold lippy.
A few years ago I had NO lashes, chemo took my hair and I was all meh, whatevs…but when it took my lashes I sobbed. Thankfully they grew back and I’ve not let anyone near them since…until now.
The best in the biz
I put the call out for the best lash lady in the biz and my wonderful community reccomended Lashes By Samantha, so I messaged her and booked an appointment. Today was the day, appointment day!
The process was painless and took about an hour and a half. Samantha was adorable and we had a lovely chat while she worked her magic. Here’s the before and after…
and now I look like this!
I’m not gonna lie, handing over $140 was a little painful but that’s the price I pay for vanity lashes. Refills are $70 and need to be done every 2-4 weeks, depending on how I care for my long lovely lashes.
How to care for lash extensions
I’ve already had a tonne of enquiries as to how to care for lashes so here are the top tips…
-Do not get them wet in the first 24 hours…or you turn into a gremlin. Nah, just kiddding, but you will weaken the adhesive.
-avoid steam rooms and saunas.
-do not rub your eyes, pat them dry.
-don’t use lash curlers or tint or perm your lash extensions.
-use oil free eyeliners and use oil fre eye makeup.
-use a gentle cleanser like micellar water, always oil free cleansers.
I’m loving myself sick already and reeeealy love that I can get away with wearing zero eyemakeup 🙂 Who knows if I can afford the upkeep, but I’m gonna try.
Have you got lash extensions? Got any hot tips on aftercare?
Til next time,
Jen x
Yes, I did a couple of weeks ago, my niece just did a course and I was one of her Guinea pigs lol, so they are doing it I n little ole Kadina, I also love mine ?
Ohhh that’s handy ?
Lovin the lashes, while I’ve never had extensions I have had lash lifts, which is basically perming lashes and I love it as its my own lashes and no added on bits to worry about and it lasts about 8 weeks …. just make sure you have an expert do it as it is perming solution that they use to curl your lash but the results are wonderful especially when you have your lashes dyed as well. Enjoy your hols Jenni xox
Sounds like it works for you Michelle. Looking forward to Bali.
Stunning!! I’m so going to make an appointment with Samantha!
Oh that’s exciting Karen
Have been indulging in my eyelash extension addiction for over a year now. As mother of 3 school children, these lashes makes me feel pretty, even without full make up, and quietly glamorous with make up. Mine last about 4 weeks until they need topping up. Sooo worth it!!!
Julie that’s awesome, good on you. I reckon if I have brows, lashes and some gloss I feel a million bucks x
Hard to believe it I to are booked for eyelash extensions next Wednesday before heading to Bali on Thursday!!! Yours look awesome I’m a bit worried I’ll come out looking like Betty boop ? I have been quoted $150-$200 which seems a bloody lot. $90 for refills. I suppose that’s Mildura prices for ya.
I might see you in Bali Felicity ? sounds steep but I guess you’re right…Mildura prices
Hi – interested to know how the lashes went in the heat and humidity – and with swimming?
I was very careful not to wet them or put my head under water while away, they lasted quite well, I mainly lost them on the side I sleep on.
You look fricken wit woooo. I love them.
Thanks jodie
Ooohhh I’ve been going back and forth over gettinf extensions for a few years, but always decide that it isn’t in my budget…looking at your gorgeous lashes makes me reconsider!!
Gorgeous Jen ? x
I hear ya Lauren, I’m going to need to look at my budget too. Well worth it but we can’t have it all
Expensive business being a woman sometimes ??
This is something I have always wanted to do. Your lashes look A- MAZING
I hope you have the chance to do it one day Ness, you would look even more amazing xx
Wow. They make such a difference. Fantastic!!
Thanks Jenny I feel great
Get those disposable mascara spindles to comb them through… yet can get tangled and these saved me! You look bloody awesome, such a time saver too!
Oh yes, I have those brushes (great for brows too ( x
Looking good! Curious on the “Do not tint, use lash curler or perm…” Why would any one want to perm their eyelashes???
Haha people do.
Well don’t you look gorgeous they really are great. Perfect for your trip. ❤❤
Thanks maxine…I’m ready!
You look hot stuff Jenni…..Have a wonderful time in Bali. xo
Thanks Jane x
I have had mine for about 3 years – be warned…they are addictive! I look bald without mine now!!
Keep on loving yourself sick!!
Susie I’m addicted already!!
Im a mumna with 5 kids under 7 lash extentions are my saviour whos got time for fancy make up in the morn love them!
Love that!! Good on you
After losing my nice, long lashes to chemo 3 years ago, they grew back rather short and stubby! But I was just so thankful to have them back. 3 months ago, my daughter gave me a gift certificate for eyelash extensions. I was only going to have them done once – until I got them. I might be dealing with a serious addiction now!! They are wonderful and I absolutely love how much easier they have made my morning makeup routine.
One word of advice – try not to touch the lashes with your fingers. The natural oils in our skin weakens the adhesive.
Enjoy your trip and your lashes!
Thanks for the tip Christie x
Hi Jen, your extensions look lovely! My daughter does extensions, so I am a lucky duck. She always says to brush them with a spoolie brush daily in addition to your tips. We are going back to Bali in October, can’t bloody wait. Did you try the Bintang Radlers? Yummo!
Oh that’s very handy Kathryn. Yes I love a riddles and I’m looking forward to cracking one tomorrow night x
