Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? me?…nope. I’m in love, I’m romantic but personally Valentines Day is for those who are dating because us married folk, well we get anniversaries. That’s enough for me.
Except that one time back in 2005 when I was 8 months pregnant with our first son.
We hadn’t celebrated a wedding anniversary yet (you do the maths) and we were loved up. Not much money but loved up.
I woke in the morning and waddled into the hallway on my way to a visit to the loo but was stopped in my tracks. My mister had worked into the wee hours of the morning creating something special for his very pregnant wife.
He had made a huge paper mâché heart and suspended it from the ceiling…on one side it said “Jenni 4 Craig 4 Eva”…the other side said “I love you always”. Don’t spew in your mouths because I freakin loved it.
We don’t go in for big gifts or flashy diamonds and jewellery. Oh but here’s the kicker…
He had blown up 100 pink balloons and they filled the stairwell of our unit and the lounge room. Inside each balloon was a little love note. Go on , say aahhhh, I did.
He’s special and has loved me through thick n thin, richer and poorer…in sickness and in health.
That’s all I need, just him. Of course if he wants to do something spesh I won’t argue.
Do you have a special memory about Valentines Day that you hold onto?
Are you planning to do something special for Valentines Day?
Let me know.
Ummm do you mind if I steal the balloon idea?!!
Go for it Jackie! I loved it 20 years ago x
Ahhhhh! He really is one in a million! I came home today to a lovely white orchid, so I am happy! Didn’t expect anything because we really aren’t the hearts and flowers types 🙂

AAWWW< how beautiful of your hubby to do that for you..beyond sweet. We don't really celebrate it, I decorate for the lounge/dining areas and we will share a lovely meal together , but that is it. My husband is actually working tonight, so didn't even get to share the meal, but that is fine. I know he loves me and I don't need flowers one day a year to be shown it..BUT I am all for others celebrating it..xx
Enjoy your meal together x
