Do you ever have those days on the weekend when you just don’t give a damn? I mean you actually ‘do’ give a damn but you don’t want to be arsed with the fuss. When I’m having an easy weekend I don’t want to bend my brain and think too hard about what I’m going to wear, so it’s always a good idea to have a few pieces in your wardrobe that will always have you covered. Yesterday was one of those days when my winter weekend wardrobe worked.
Don’t let age stop you from wearing what you want.
I was a latecomer to the whole denim jeans thing and didn’t actually start wearing them until I was in my early forties, now I have a few pairs that are pretty much glued to my arse. My hot tip is when you find something you love purchase it in multiple 🙂 Where I fall down is what to team with my denim jeans for weekend wear.
As a curvy gal who holds a chunk of weight in my guts I don’t like firm fitting tops. Lucky for me I do like skinny leg jeans, so a looser top that skims my pudding always works. Tees are a challenge so when I spy a great alternative to a tee I am a happy camper. Oh who am I kidding with the camping….it’s glamping all the way for me LOL
A casual top option better than a tee
When I spied the Harlow modern love kimono sweater I was intrigued, so like a boss I got to the business of trying it on. First thing I notice is how soft and snuggly it is. I mean, it looks like a tee but is a ribbed knit, perfect for the cooler months. This top also has a flattering V neck and sexy side splits.
Now the side splits aren’t something I would normally go in for but there’s a 6 cm overlap to ensure not everything is on display all the time. I chose to wear a layering tank underneath so I wasn’t flashing my beige knickers that sit higher than the waistband of my jeans, thank me later.
The best bit? Well, the drape and the colour. I have the top in denim marle but it’s also available in good ‘ole dependable black. The drape was perfect for my round belly, it just fell and swished in a way that made me feel more confident.
I could happily layer a jacket over the kimono top (and did later in the day) and the addition of my favourite sneakers meant my weekend wear was covered on all bases.
Which meant it was time to head out with the huz and chow down on this (oh yes I did!)
All the details.

A slack day here, cooking up a lovely stuffed chicken with baked vegs. But have 3 tops on and comfy jogger pants. And bright pink ugg boots. Not glamorous but warm. It’s so cold out here.
I like your style cause I’m curvy too. Pity I’m in South Africa (Pietermaritzburg)
